Dirty foul by Rondo, but he didn't have much of a choice. Nobody was defending the lane. Should have been a flagrant. Bulls should have the ball back.

So, the Celts are the only boston team I like. And I will say this, man they have been entertaining this postseason. I am just afraid that they wont have anything left come the second round assuming they advance

Not quite, just looked bad because he got a bloody lip

Our play in the last two games has been amazing careless and lazy, particularly on defense. It really to Chicago's inability to close games out that we're actually one win away from winning the series.

Or he just doesn't want to take the big shot when the game is on the line. Doesn't really matter, though, when you have Pierce and Allen.

Because if he does take that big shot when those two players are also on the floor, then he'll be perceived as selfish if he misses.

when you have wide open looks, you take the shot. on the c's, he's unselfish to a fault.

Didn't say whether it was right or wrong or what he should do. Marbury has a stigma to him that he's overly anxious to shake, IMO.

Pierce is a better all-around offensive talent than Larry Bird was, and I'll leave it at that. I feel this is pretty blatant and obvious and doesn't even need explaining.

starburry gun shy? what the f***? the man just refuses to shoot

I was pissed when that happened. Passes up a wide open shot and throws it to Rondo, who then airballs a 4-foot shot.

Did you ever see Bird play Yankshater?

Nothing against Paul Pierce but ask 100 people who saw them both play, who'd they want to take the last shot of a game and if 99 dont say Bird, Id be shocked....

Bird could shoot better pass better rebound better and would play till he died.

Pierce is more athletic and faster and could penetrate better.

Bird had a way of making everyone around him better, Pierce didnt win anything till the big boy Garnett arrived.

No knock against Paul Pierce, he'll never have to buy a drink in this city as long as he lives but he isnt Larry Bird, only a couple of people in NBA history had Birds talent and none had his will to win.

uhhh...yah....right.

The game has changed so comparing styles isn't appropriate. Yes Paul Pierce looks flashier, penetrates better, gets up and down the court better...

But he doesn't compare to Bird.

Of course we are talking about a different era as well

Bird came in 79-80 pierce in the mid 90s

Players today are bigger stronger and faster but are they better collectively?

Id say the NBA of the 80s was its peak as far as interest goes and you had a variety of clubs that won or couldve won...The knicks had 2 hall guys in Bernard King and Ewing, Philly won with Moses Malone Dr J and the Boston Strangler,Andrew Toney Mo Cheeks and the Jones boys...Detroit had the Kelly the puker Tripuca, Adrian Dantley,Isiah,Vinny the microwave and Bill Lambier...Out west the Nuggets scored 130 a game but couldnt keep up with LA but Houston had a couple of pops at us, once with Moses Malone in 81 and again in 86, the spurs had the smoothest scorer on the planet in George Gervin and a couple of bruisers, dallas was decent with Mark Aguirre and others....

anyway

It seemed more competetive back in the day

I agree Bird is the better shooter, passer, etc, no bones about that.

Pierce has the better offensive skill set, this is what I was referring to..

I grew up watching Bird, Magic and then Jordan. I like Pierce's game, but saying he is better than Bird is just wrong. Larry was in the right place, at the right time in every game. He hit many, many big shots against tougher competition (didnt say better, but tougher, remember we're talking 20 yrs ago). He also could rebound with the best of em and his passing was unquestionably better. Yes, Pierce is quicker. But so is Rondo, does that mean Rajon > Bird? I'll tell ya, the kids who grew up during Birds final seasons or who are too young to remember him playing dont get it. I was just getting into basketball during his peak and even I am too young to remember his early yrs. But he was the NBA Eastern conference. It was Bird vs Magic, even with Detroit being good and Michael coming through in Chicago. Those were the two most marketable players and they were the two best players. And to be honest with you, I think Bird had a much, much, much bigger will to win than Magic. That guy played with hate and he'd punch his mother for the ball. You dont see that too often these days. The guys are all friends now.

Ever see the play when he fired the ball of lambiers face from 6 feet away?

Or the preseason brawl involving Dr J,Caldwell Jones against Larry Bird and 80 yr old Red Auerbach?

this was in preseason mind you, who gave a f*** about preseason?

Bird did and while he was fighting the Philly bench Red came down from his 20th row seat and grabbed J by the throat,Billy Cunningham wanted no part of Auerbach's insanity so he hid and then a chair came down from the Lodge seats causing pandemonium in which the cops had to seperate both teams, I think thats when ML Carr stomped on Andrew Toney's ankle as he was hitting Rick Roby from behind, forever altering his career...

Yes a preseason game.

the preseason after Milwaukee swept them in the quarter final.,

that season they won it all and that night set the tone.
