Edited to reflect 7:10 start time.

Its a shame we have the off day sandwiched in between Wake's performance and this game. I would love to see the momentum carried over, and I'm not sure how a cross-country trip and a day's rest will affect that. Our bullpen will definitely appreciate the break they've gotten from Wake + the schedule though, that's for sure.

I can't make pasta tomorrow...or Saturday...however, the Sox are also unbeaten when I go to a game, including Yankee Stadium and Camden Yards, and I have box seats for Saturday, sooo...

Anyways, Pasta Mojo is 1-0 this season.

If you miss making pasta on any game against the Yankees this year, i will go over there on my floating door, and then i will hunt you down and force you to watch CSI: Miami for 72 straight hours.

I wouldn't watch it for that long. Within the fourth hour of being forced to listen to David Caruso's interpretation of 'acting', my brain would melt.

BOS: RHP Brad Penny (1-0, 4.50 ERA)

Penny had a successful debut for the Red Sox, scattering five hits and three runs over six innings against the Angels on Saturday. He walked two in that game. This will be his second career start at Fenway Park, and first since 2003. Pitching for the Marlins at the time, Penny took the loss, giving up nine hits and nine runs over five innings. This will be Penny's first career start against the Orioles.

BAL: RHP Jeremy Guthrie (2-0, 2.25 ERA)

Guthrie threw six shutout innings in his start Saturday vs. the Rays and is 2-0 for the first time in his brief career. The right-hander has completed six innings in each of his past two starts, while Baltimore's other pitchers have yet to go that far. Guthrie has held opponents to a .261 batting average this year and has seemingly seen his hard-luck trend from last season reverse itself.

Tidbits

Jason Bay has reached base in all nine games, and 22 successive dating back to Sept. 22, 2008. ... Jacoby Ellsbury has played 182 consecutive errorless games in the outfield, a Red Sox record. ... Kevin Youkilis is hitting .472 in his first 36 at-bats. ... Bay, Mike Lowell, J.D. Drew and Youkilis all have two homers to tie for the team lead.

So the Cap'n gets no love here, eh? It's true that one wouldn't normally think of checking Tek's line when looking for the team leader in HRs...

Greetings from lovely North Attleboro, Ma. It's 64 deg. here and the forcast for the game is about 50.

I hope Penny won't get roughed-up. Guthry looks like he may be able to stop the Sox for a while. Let's hope the boys run the counts up and the o's have to go to the pen early!

I'm an Ellsbury fan but I believe Tito has to consider puting him in the lower part of the order until his bat comes alive. I don't know?
