And what if he doesn't hit in the minors? He has to come back up eventually.

The fan part of my brain tends to agree with you. The other side tends to lean more with SCM. Time will tell.

Yes, he does have to come back up eventually, and at that point, and not before, we will know whether or not he can hit and and a decision can be made then. Just letting him go simply is not an option at this time whether your brain likes it or not, so for the time being it's play him, sit him or DL him. Since he certainly won't improve riding the bench, the only realistic options are to play him or DL him and ship him to rehab.

How is Chris Carter doing in the minors - will he be able to take the DH spot?

I do not like Baldelli as DH.

Only had two hits today

Baldelli is too fragile at this stage to handle any kind of full time roll,we have 2 guys playing regularly that cant break .200 and the guy who was hitting the ball well in florida isnt hitting well enough for the brass to take a chance on,especially since he's got 1 option left.'

Chris Carter

slugging .385 with 2hrs as we get into June is sad for a hitter of his capability.

He's done. I remember when Jim Rice was done he had his eyes checked. He may have even worn glasses for a while. It didn't help.

I think I suggested an eye exam about the time I joined the board in mid-April. Ortiz says that he is required to have them examined once a year and that he is 20/20. I don't think his eyes are the problem. But if I had so much invested in him I would have taken care of this several weeks ago. I think most of his problems are "Mental". He is pretty much the same lumbering big guy that he has been for years. I don't buy into the idea that he has had a precipitous decline in his ability simply because he is getting on in years. That has something to do with it, to be sure. One thing is clear, there is no easy solution to this slump.

Sox will hang with him 2-3 more weeks. Then it's time fore the pine.

By the way, Jim Rice was a much better hitter throughout his career than Ortiz has ever been. People have short memories.

Wang's sinker is fine.

Except that for our respective teams, Ortiz is much more important than Wang.

Hey-o! The vagina jokes' date=' always a hit.[/quote']

They're directed towards a very "feminine" might i say, member of the Yankee starting rotation.

His having a vagina would not come as a surprise to anyone.

Right now Papi doesn't even look close, not sure if he can find his groove again but I'm sure hoping for the big man ... he's done so much over the years.

If they are more than a one line response, I don't read them anymore. I only read the first sentence. From that I get the topic, and once a I know the topic, I can summarize the content from a table.
Topic|Team|Content

Prospect|Yankees|The player in question is made of 150% pure awesomeness. Fear us.

Prospect|Sox|He could be good, but this is why he won't be.

Signing|Yankees|This is the missing piece. We'll win 160 games, and the umps will screw us out of 2.

Signing|Sox|Risky move, overpaid here, they'll regret this.

Injury|Yankees|They don't get hurt. Hypothetically, if they did, the recovery will be speedy with no impact to ability.

Injury|Sox|Everyone is a ticking time bomb. Once hurt, they'll never heal right.
Seriously, this table can be shown to have a 97.2% accuracy rating.

I will start using this table as response to every Jacko post from here on out.
