AJ looks incredible today. Only one bad pitch. 10K's in 5IP' date=' only one hit, but the two walks ahead of it have the yanks trailing[/quote']

Get his balls out of your mouth. He left in line for the loss with an ok start.

AJ Burnett is a hit or miss guy. When he has a bad game he really gets pounded badly.

How does this statement apply to today's game?

Looks like this will be the Yankees first home series loss since the Nationals series (I think).

Like I said earlier in the thread, I think we're going to be looking at a division race very similar to 2003 and 2004. All the Yankee fans saying that the division is rapped up are being pretty ridiculous.

2 hits and 12 K's in 6 innings is pretty dominant. One of those hits went into the seats after 2 walks and our offense couldnt capitalize on 7 walks in 3.2IP from Nippert.

The race is over dude. In 2003 and 2004, the division race wasn't that close.

I have no doubt that a playoff series would be fought tooth and nail. The pennant is done, though.

Burnett hasnt been as good as i thought he'd be for ny this year however he has given them a lot of innings and remained healthy, how this translates into october remains to be seen.

I do know the sox are looking forward to seeing him, hes been a soft target in Fenway.

In any event the Yanks picked a guy up who traditionally pitched well against them and seems to have a good future in front of him pitching with an offense capable of giving him solid support each time out....

Burnett hasnt been as dominant as advertised' date=' but he has been solid and a necessary part of this rotation.[/quote']The biggest thing is that he has been healthy for the entire season. That has been a surprise to me.

August 28, 2003: 4.5 game lead

August 28, 2004: 5.5 game lead

The Yankees were a strong team in both of those years, but so were the Red Sox. This is not 2006.

The Yankees have been incredible since the All Star break. Including this past week, they have only lost two series. But, at some point, they're going to slump a bit. In my opinion, this division is going to be, at the very least, whittled down to two or three games at some point. I hope I'm wrong, but that's what I see happening. I still pay attention to the Red Sox every single day, hoping that they're going to lose as if the division race was tied. All of you here know that my reason for rooting against the Red Sox has nothing to do with some hatred towards them, but, instead, it's in the hope that they don't make a run at the Yankees.

the sox always go on a run when they are home. After the toronto series, they go to TB for 3 and Chicago for 4. And they still have 3 in the Bronx in late September at the end of a 10 game roadie where NY will have the chance to align the rotation with an off day right before the series. I dont expect a 2004 september push mostly because this sox team plays so poorly on the road that it makes a sustained winning streak across homestands and roadtrips difficult.

Yeah, but we both know that they're good enough to get hot on the road. You're right, they have not played well on the road so far this year, but I'm not confident enough to say that that can't change over a small sample size.

The Yankees with a Yankee Yes Classic as Cano hits a 3-run walkoff. White Sox Pitcher got ARod and tex to start the inning and then fell apart against Matsui and Swisher before giving up the HR to Cano.

He'd piss me off like nobody else if I was a Yankee fan. He's probably got the natural talent to be an MVP caliber player, but he jakes it a lot and takes days off mentally.

Pretty much exactly how I feel.

Cano loves women and booze.

Maybe if you found a way to take his mind of those two things during the game, he'd be hitting third for the Yanks as soon a next year.

That's pretty much every Yankee fan's take on him.
