Yankees denied a trade for cliff lee. I heard it was joba chamberlin and phil hughes for cliff lee.

If that's true...that must have been the easiest decision Brian Cashman has ever had to make.

Cano is a f***ing moron. He overslides 3rd base by three feet and is out after being safe easily. What a douche.

He actually got a hit with RISP. Lets take what we can get.

I'm not convinced' date=' at this moment, that they have the starting pitching to do that.[/quote']

Their 3-5 is much better than the Sox's ATM. Chamberlain is rounding into form nicely and Pettitte is Pettitte.

and what I like about Mitre is that he isnt prone to the long ball. He'll give up a ton of hits due to the sinker, but I doubt he starts giving up the big hits that knock him out with regularity. I truly expect an ERA in the 5 range, but I actually think he could be useful. Joba has looked like a man with a mission since the break and Pettitte is starting to mix that cutter back in. As long as those three can put up quality starts (or thereabouts, 6IP 4ER, 5IP 3ER types of games) 50-60% of the time, we'll be golden.

Chamberlain has been good in his last two starts, but who knows if the Chamberlain before the ASB is going to show up. His innings cap, which the Yankees are keeping secret, is also a concern. He clearly is not going to be treated like an ordinary starter, come September.

I'm also extremely concerned that Burnett is going to regress, for obvious reasons.

And Mitre, although he is a fifth starter, is clearly a concern.

With that being said, I agree that the Yankees 3-5 is better than the Sox 3-5. I'm just not sure that is going to be good enough to run away with the division.

The sox O will play into things as well. If the sox offense continues this drought for another week or two, then it might be over before it even starts. The sox pitching, as currently constructed, needs significant offense 60% of the starts and some offense in the other 40%. If they have another 10 game stretch where they lose 6-8 games, then they are done.
