Right now they do' date=' thats for sure. But I will say this. The O's of 3 yrs ago would be trying to sign every scrap heap veteran around to pitch. This yr, they decided to do things right. Bergeson, Berken, and David Hernandez will all be useful major league pitchers. Tillman and Matusz in the minors are future studs. And currently, they have Guthrie and Hill trying to iron things out, two guys who could be very useful when they are on. The O's are embracing a full out rebuild, which is something they havent done in a long time. They were the team who would trade a top player for 3 rookies, then sign 2 veterans to big money when it was obvious the team was way behind in terms of contention in this division. [b']If they play their cards right and get some solid prospects for Huff, Scott, and Sherrill this trade deadline, they could be a Tampa Bay Ray redux in 3-5 yrs.[/b]

Agreed completely. Matusz and Tillman are a potentially lethal 1-2 combo, and they can build around them with the other guys you mentioned (and acquisitions). The offense has a great core in Markakis, Jones and Wieters.

Amazing that the Yankees are getting well pitched games with Posada behind the plate...

I am shocked. However, they don't win the game where Matsui hit the game winner if Posada is behind the plate.

How can you make such a definitive statement that is based on nothing but conjecture? I'm assuming you're talking about the two plays in the 8th inning. Posada might make those plays, and he might not. But you have absolutely no idea, and neither do I. However, he certainly could have. It's purely hypothetical. On the first play Molina did not block the plate. All he did was catch the ball, and blindly (according to him) put the tag down. Posada very well could have done this. And on the next pitch, maybe Posada keeps the ball in front of him.

We both have no idea, and judging by your post, you don't appreciate this fact.

I think Posada is a terrible catcher. However, it is possible that the Yankees win the game with Posada behind the plate.

As good as Matsui is, I'd love to see Posada as the back up catcher and #1 DH, with Matsui filling in for Posada at DH when he catches. I've said that all along.

Cano is an idiot. Why go for the extra base when you're down by two and it wasn't even close. Moron. Million dollar body, ten cent brain.

Nice win tonight. You guys may start to worry about the Rays and Rangers soon.

You're never as bad as you look when you lose, and you're never as good as you look when you win. Both teams are experiencing this right now. We're not as good as our streak, and you're not as bad in your streak.

We definitely are on a hot streak right now, which is great. We obviously wont stay this hot. That being said, the pen is coming together really nicely, something that is allowing these leads to remain and our starters are starting to give more depth. Since the ASB, Mitre is the only guy not to go through 6 even though he did get into the 6th. The offense is providing timely hits as well. And the cool thing is, the first 3 were vs Detroit, so at least we handled a good team.

had a good chance there in the 9th, with 2 on and no outs. But Posada hit into the DP and Jeter didnt get enough to right. Oh well, 8 in a row is nice and its good to see we didnt just roll over at the end there. Sucks that Aceves couldnt be typical Aceves, but those days happen.

Yankees denied a trade for cliff lee. I heard it was joba chamberlin and phil hughes for cliff lee.
