I've been amazed by how much velocity he's lost on his fastball as a starter. I thought he'd lose 2-3 mph but I didn't think he'd go from a 98-99 mph fastball to 93-94.

 

Agreed, but his lack of control, to me, is a much bigger concern.

He pitches a lot like Daisuke, not many pitches end up in the zone. I think he'd rather walk a guy than give up a hit.

Control is a huge issue, but this year everything has gone down. H/9, HR/9, BB/9, K/9 have all decreased from last year. I think this will change, as I think he's going to be a really good pitcher.

 

I still hate him though.

Oh yeah, that's right.

 

I think I heard somewhere that he goes to more 3-2 counts than any other pitcher in baseball. So even when he's getting outs, he's not getting deep into games.
