I understand all this "CC starts slowly" stuff. I mean, the Sox haven't started playing yet, many aces got hit hard today, etc.,

I'm just curious though, is CC's velocity usually that poor?

He was around 93-94 mph the whole start.

Has there been a season where fans are more excited to see their team beat the Yankees? I mean' date=' they've had some pretty unlikable teams in the past, but adding 400m worth of FAs really makes it fun to root against them.[/quote']

What a fantastic point, and I totally agree.

last yr the same questions were arising. Command off' date=' velocity down. Its April. He was throwing beebees in Florida. It was a cool, damp day and it was game #1.[/quote']

That'll be awesome come October, if the Yanks get there

Not the two innings I watched. He wasn't around 93-94 at all. So maybe ESPN's radar gun was different from YES.

Teixeira was booed pretty roundly in Baltimore, should be booed in TEX, ANA and BOS too.

I like to trust Gameday.

Gameday isn't a radar reading. It's the PitchFX pitch tracker that takes 60 high-speed photos per second during the trajectory of the pitch, measuring velocity, spin, and break relative to an x and y axis. Radar readings can be misleading because it depends on where in the trajectory it is picked up. PitchFX tells you how fast it left the hand and how fast it was going when it got to the plate.

A site, brooksbaseball.net, mines data directly from mlb.com and breaks down each pitcher's performance in each game.

I love that site and have used it a few times. I knew PitchFX was more accurate/detailed, but I didn't know gameday used it. Thanks ORS.

I stand corrected. Looks like his FB was alright.

Tough way to start the year.

I'll say this though, I wouldn't be surprised to see more of the same from this bullpen. I'm relatively optimistic about everything besides the bullpen.

Anyway, hopefully Wang and Burnett will fair better.

so if that is the case, how fast was he throwing? I know the YES and ESPN guns can be off significantly at times. Last yr, there was a game where YES had Ian Kennedy sitting 94 and another game where Wang was sitting 86. So I know their guns can and usually are off. Also, we all know ESPN has the same issues. If the pitch fx you are touting truly does take 60 pics per second then that would technically be the most accurate.

watching the game when sabbathia threw, i never saw a pitch over 91...of course when Michael Kay's calling the game you need to get proper perspective because what he discusses and what actually goes on are 2 different things.

Now with Arod missing his most vital month of the year, all the pressure is on Tex. Arlo Guthrie was feeding him knee high hangers but the prized lefty wasnt biting, rather lame as opposed to aggressive at the plate i thought.

1st game of the season, long way to go yet....

figure 1 of the yanks starters, wang burnett or sabby to see the dl before the 1st series is finished.

CC might have been sitting around 94MPH, but when it's all over the place it doesn't matter. But like I said CC is a historically slow start. He doesn't seem to like the cold weather either. that will help come October in NY LOL

He wont have the luxury of seeing Cincinatti Houston and the Cubs down the stretch as he did last year.

If he pitched all season in the AL Central what would his #s have looked like in October?

8 years is a long time in baseball and if the financial markets dont pickup soon a deal like this could influence their decision making come July 31st when I suspect some vital pieces of puzzles will be available for buyers.

Did you go to Camden Gom?

Yeah I was there for opening day.

Isn't it awesome? It's probably my favorite modern park.

It's awesome. You can see where the Yankees and Mets got their ideas from. Citi is just Camden redone [although Camden is much prettier, that skyline is gorgeous]. Yankee Stadium is Camden on Ex. However, the skyline view is best in Camden. That skyline is gorgeous.

The parks are really similar. Yankee Stadium takes the most modern park, Shea has more amenities, and Camden is the prettiest one, and Eutaw street is awesome.

The fact that Camden can pretty much hold it's own with Yankee Stadium and Citi Field is a testament to how good that park really is. It's neck and neck with stadiums that are 15+ years newer.

It really is a great park. Definitely in my top five in terms of modern stadiums. For me though, I'm not sure if any of the modern stadiums can top AT&T park. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing games in the two New York parks though.

I've never been at AT&T but it looks cool. This year, besides Fenway, I'm going to new Yankee Stadium, Camden at least once, maybe RFK, and maybe somewhere near where I visit colleges.
