Not a good day for me. Went 15/16 on Thursday, then 9/16 Friday, for 24/32 total.

Thanks a lot Wake Forest. This is going to be a long tournament. I knew at least one 12 was going to beat a 5, but I didn't think that 3 of them would.

Villanova blows out UCLA, Memphis in the process of doing the same to Maryland, as is UConn to A&M. Not the most thrilling afternoon games.

It was reminiscent of Tyus Edney. What sucks is that the WKU coach was trying to call time right after the tip in tied it, but the refs missed it.

Typical.

 

From someone who watched the game, the replay of the first revealed that there was clear contact, but since it was on a rebound, the ref could have let it go either way. Let's put it this way, in the NBA the call gets made, but in college, where more contact is allowed, the ref could have swallowed his whistle. On the second, it was a blantant push off by the Texas player for an open ball. The play by play crew thought the refs got both calls right.

I have no idea why Pittman was sitting down. Duke has no answer for someone that big, and he probably would have corralled those two rebounds that went Duke's way late in the game.

I realize you were joking, but I also feel there's a bit of truth in that post, and no, it's not about the refs. You said yourself you missed the games, and you've also said you go to other boards for sports coverage. I do too. The sentiment is there every single time Duke wins a close game, every call is a gift, legitimate or not. It gets a little stale.

Oh absolutely. The whole UCONNvicts thing is pretty stale but it's also humorous when fans of other teams throw it out there, because of its ridiculousness.

 

Turning attention back to the tournament, can the BE get 6 into the Sweet 16? UConn, Villanova, and Syracuse are there and Louisville, Marquette, and Pitt all have winnable games IMO.

Before he coached at Providence, he was at George Mason. This was when I was 11 or so, the mid 80's. GMU was about 5 miles from where we lived, right near the high school I went to. I went to his BBall camp one summer. Even as an adolescent, I could tell he wasn't one of the smartest people in the room. Hell of a recruiter, though.
