Yeah' date=' just like Beckett. ;)[/quote']

Number one I don't know if I've ever provided that argument for Beckett. Number two, we actually have reason to predict a good out of Beckett, considering that he's just a had a better career.

No, but I did.

AJ and Beckett were very unlucky last season. Both career numbers are comparable.

You were talking bull about Tek's contract in this market.

Then you go ahead and defend a nearly $100 million dollar contract for AJ "Primadonna" Burnett.

Talk about a hypocrite and a homer.

It was $82.5 million, f***ing idiot.

Unlike Varitek, Burnett had a great year. He received many offers, so there was a bidding war for his services (unlike Tek), I can understand his price going up. How many offers do we heard for Tek?

How is Burnett overpaid? He's an injury risk, yeah. But he's also a high risk, high reward guy.

Wanna talk about overpaying? The Sox guaranteed 5 million for a NL West pitcher with 3/4 shoulder left that only managed to pitch 96 IPs last year, while his average FB dropped around 2 mph. Brilliant.

That's a lot of money, considering most rehab pitchers are signing Milb deals, and healthy pitchers like Looper and Garland got around that kind of money.

Oh yeah, and Smoltz was even more overpayed. He got 5.5 million guaranteed, and will start to pitch in June. He can earn up to $11 million with incentives. His contract.

# 1 year/$5.5M (2009)

* $5.5M in bonuses based on days on active 25-man roster:

o $125,000 for his first day

o $ 35,000 per day, June 1 - Oct. 3

o $500,000 for Oct. 4

So he has 5.5 million guaranteed, without pitching the first two months. If he's on the 25-man, he gets $35,000 a day during a 4 month period! 0.5m just for being on the 25-man on Oct. 4. No wonder why he picked the Sox, it was a no brainer.

They better pan out.

So 82 million, which is more than 80% of 100 million is not nearly a hundred million?

Not only are a you a f***ing idiot.

You're a f***ing idiot who doesn't know math.

And you're a f***ing idiot who apparently doesn't know what "almost" is.

You, sir, are a waste of space in this beatiful planet.

No? There's a difference of $17.5 million or $17,500,000 which is a lot. That's kinda close to the Marlins' payroll.

Am I going too fast? Do you need some drawings or something?

Burnett for 5yrs/82M is much riskier the Tek for 1yr/5M. If Tek suck/goes down with an injury, it hurts but for only this season. If AJ continues his mediocrity/fragile ways outside of contract years, that deal will hurt a lot more. Maybe not financially, because this is the Yanks we are talking about.

Nice way of rounding out your arguments without the verbal assaults.

Not to mention that if Tek does not come up to snuff, we have some depth options. Dusty Brown is probably better than Jose Molina right now. And the volatile Kottaras could turn out to be a dud, or a stud, depending on how his unusual batting style translates to the big leagues.

Who is Jose Molina? Is there another brother I am not aware of?

Let's not go to overboard on Brown either. He is what he is. He might be a better option with a bat, but Molina is probably the better option behind the plate.

yeah no.

I have to agree Jacko:lol:

The Sox have good depth at many spots. But Catcher isn't one of them.

It almost seems as if the Red Sox/Yankees rivalry on here can be broken down to DipreG vs. Diony and JimedHOF vs. Jacko....

Anyway, Diony, you're f***** nuts if you're comparing Burnett and Varitek. That's like trying to justify buying an Ashton Martin by saying it's of higher quality than a Civic. I know that Jacko is out of his f***** mind, but recently you've been able to out-do him...

BOSTON—As the 2009 baseball season progresses, major-league managers are defending against Red Sox catcher Jason Varitek by employing what they call the "Varitek Shift," a defensive maneuver in which infielders move up past the pitcher's mound and outfielders take a knee and relax. "It's very effective," Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire told reporters. "If Jason makes contact with the ball, which is rare in itself, he usually hits slow dribblers that catch infielders by surprise because of how weak they're hit. So, by moving the infielders up, and having the pitcher rush home plate after the pitch has been thrown, [Varitek] has virtually no chance of reaching base. If runners are on when he comes up, we may have the outfielders cover first, second, and third to ensure a double or triple play." Gardenhire added that it doesn't matter if the switch-hitting Varitek bats right- or left-handed, as the shift is foolproof.

A worthy bump.

The fact that you find the need to post these numbers leads one to believe:

1. Glove to pop to pop translates as, you get a oven mitt off, pop open a refrigerator, then pop open a nice cold one between the times of 1.72-1.81 seconds.

2.Your strength is crouching, over a toilet.....taking herculean deuces, which travel from your rectum at a whopping 87 MPH, which leads me to believe you damaged a regular porcelain toilet and have since upgraded to titanium.

If you played, post a page where it could be proven. www.Thebaseballcube.com posts minor league numbers from as far back as the mid 80's I believe. If you are so intent on making believers outta people.....prove people wrong and post it.

Ha! Believe what you will...that was pretty f***ing funny..I must admit. I may be moving home this October.. North Shore??..Would be glad to show you my arm.. It would probably result in you acquiring a broken nose and needing another pair of Poindexter, horn-rimmed glasses... I also have a few friends who own batting cages and training facilities in the area.. I am sure we can arrange a meeting at some point and you can test your colorful Hypothesis out.. However, I am quite sure you will be eating an EPIC serving of Crow should this event take place.

As for Baseball cube...sure they are there.. I have looked at them..just did tonight as a matter of fact.. I have no desire to share my name with anyone on a message board..sorry. It is not imperative to my existence here that you believe me. The offer is open come October though.

Epicness.
