You know i'm not talking about first base, but the rest of the infield.

Jeter is awful.

Cano and A-Fraud are "ok."

But again, Lowe's DECLINE + AL East OFFENSES + Yanks IF defense= 6.00 ERA.

And to ital, errors are the single worst way to evaluate team defense, so don't rely on errors for anything, we're talking about range and ability, because if his IF can't get to groundballs they should get to, then no error will be charged, but the ERA will jump.

So he'll end up with an ERA higher than Ponson and Rasner.

Hey, it's just a opinion, but yes, i do think he will.

If Pettitte pitches the way he did last year, probably not, especially since Joba is only slated for like 150 innings this season.

Huh? I'll take 204 IPs and a 4.54 ERA from my 5th starter anytime.

The contract is for $6 million, he could earn 12 with the incentives.

You said it'd be the best rotation in baseball....I said if Pettitte pitches like he did last year, it probably won't be.

The Sox have a guy like that, Tim Wakefield.

I think it's a good move by the Yankees.

As for Pettitte, he left some gauranteed money on the table by not accepting an earlier offer, but who knew the market would shift the way it has. Just like the average "Joe Citizen", who lives above his means, thinking he'll never lose his job or suffer financial distress, baseball players and their agents don't seem to ever consider that the market for players may change.

Apparently it's $6 Mil guaranteed, with the possibility of earning another $6 mil thorough incentives. Should be announced soon.

I'll take it.

It looks more like 5.5 million guaranteed with a chance of getting up to 6.5 million in incentives. The first time I read it I thought that he could get up to 6.5 million WITH incentives...big difference

Perfect. This offseason has been absolutely perfect. We now have the rotation that we needed. You have the durability of Wang, Pettitte and Sabathia. You have the #1 starter potential in Sabathia, Joba and Burnett. You allow Joba to sit in the 5 hole and be skipped on a regular basis to keep his IP down. You allow Hughes to mature in AAA with the pressure off for a yr and with a chance to gain valuable innings. I am loving this rotation right now. Power, depth, durability. I'd put this rotation against anyone's.

Yep nothing says durability like AJ Burnett . Plus Wang is coming off an injured season that saw him pitch 95 innings. Everything is on paper right now. Last year just about everyone (including me) was contemplating how good the Tigers lineup was going to be... that turned out well

having to resort to wishing for injury. Thats when we know we have you

Dude, you wish for injury all the damn time, stop being such a hypocrite.

Nice deal for the Yanks.

Not really. Pettitte was pretty solid to start the yr off. His WHIP was 1.33 through the ASB and he had an ERA of 4.03. It was the end of the yr that he tailed off, which was uncharacteristic of him and was blamed on injury. Now I assume a physical and an MRI are in order prior to finalizing this deal. If those come back clean, then this is a steal of a deal. The way this rotation is built, Pettitte doesnt need to be a 4.05ERA pitcher like he was in 07. We just need a guy capable of giving us 200IP of sub 5 ERA.

Pettitte pitched 204 innings last season, but he was 2-7 with a 6.23 earned run average in his last 11 starts. That brought his final record to 14-14. His 4.54 E.R.A. was his highest since 1999.

Yet Pettitte is only 36 -- a year older than Derek Lowe, who got a four-year, $60 million deal from Atlanta and Cashman said he was surprised at the positive medical reports he got on Pettitte's tired shoulder. Pettitte said he has worked this winter to strengthen it.

"I got a clean bill of health from the Yankees' doctors," Pettitte said. "I knew I wouldn't need any surgery, and my shoulder, structurally, looked very sound."

Pettitte is a durable guy so theres no need to put into bold on his medical reports. But Curt did pass a physical before the 2008 season, that turned out nicely

Im not wishing for injury, every single rotation has question marks. That cant be denied. A lot of things have to go right (2004 Sox is rare team to have any of the 5 starters go on the DL). Hell Lowe who was abysmal during the season, was a force in the playoffs

This post exemplifies that some take this stuff way to personal! We...you...more than figurative to be sure. ;)

Here's a better way to look at it....may the best team win, but if it is the Yankees, please enjoy your team's victory in the proper perspective.
