Manny on verge of signing with Yankees

We can. I dont remember where i saw the article, but they broke it down. Right now, in addition to the sandwich picks, the Angels stand to get our 1st round pick (26), the Brewers get our 2nd, and Toronto gets our third. We can sign Manny and that would give the Dodgers our third rounder with Toronto being pushed back and getting the 4th round pick. There are a lot of flaws in the elias free agent ranking system, they need to fix it after an off-season like this.

I wouldn't count the yankees out either...nor would I consider them done in terms if pitching...I could still see them make a push for Lowe or Sheets.

They're standing pat waiting for Pettitte to sign. If he doesn't it looks like the 5th spot will be up for grabs and will be filled by either Hughes, Aceves, Kennedy (god I hope not), etc. I think everyone still accepts Andy to sign...eventually. Aside from Pettitte I think Cash is really reluctant to spend any more money. Even if they were to get Manny they would need to trade someone to clear some room not only on the roster, but on the payroll as well.

“Man, that’s crazy,” Angels center fielder Torii Hunter said.

“Those da mn Yankees!

They don’t play around. When they’re trying to win, they’re trying to win. It’s crazy. They just paid $27 million in luxury tax. That’s like 27 dollars to them. They don’t even care.”

Said Hunter: “They’re scary. Their rotation is one of the best, if not the best, in the game, and now look at their lineup. They have A-Rod, Jeter, Teixeira, Hideki Matsui, Xavier Nady, Robinson Cano, Jorge Posada is coming back [from injury], Nick Swisher . . . golly, that’s a nice lineup.”

“That’s going to be a dogfight, a pit-bull fight,” Hunter said. “It’s going to be pretty rough in that division. Tampa Bay has the confidence. Boston has won two championships. Toronto and Baltimore play you hard too. Good luck in that division.

“They’ve had the best lineup I’ve seen for seven years in a row and they haven’t won it all,” Hunter said. “They can still be beat. It will take dedication, hard work, and you’ve got to have heart. When you have that, you have a chance.”

“They’re the Beasts of the East,” Hunter said. “The Evil Empire.”

Yeah I saw that earlier lol, Hunter is a trip, he seems to have become the Angels mouthpiece being very vocal with the media this offseason. everywhere I turn there's a Torii quote. It's cool though, he's a good guy, great player, I like him a lot. He's certainly entertaining.
