You can never have too much starting pitching, I guess it would depend on what he wanted. If he wanted an incentive laden deal then I am sure they would try and work out something.

About half way through the season Matsuzaka should break down from throwing in the WBC. A rehabilitated Schilling would fill the void nicely. If he can get himself to the point where he can hit 90-91, he'd be a nice addition. No one is better in the playoffs.

If there is a need for him, then yes. But if the Sox are holind strong pitching wise, I don't see the point in trying to make room for him.

I know that he likes the idea of if he comes back doing a 1/2 season and I would love to see him back in a Sox uniform again...but only if he can be productive.

If he can get himself in shape then I say go for it.

As if he's going to be anything like what you remembered. I see a Clemens in NY thing for you guys. Good luck.

Clemens never tried to be anything but a power pitcher. Schilling on the other hand realized his velocity dipped and adjusted his style accordingly and became quite effective

Why not? Each of the last several years we've been in situations down the stretch where we could have used one more starter. If Schilling's shoulder is healthy enough he would represent some pretty interesting Wakefield insurance if nothing else. And if his shoulder is (finally) back to full strength, then maybe we'll see him hit the low 90's again with his fastball, which would make him VERY interesting at the bottom of a rotation.

I dont think he'd run and hide in the DR so thats another plus

I would like this line explained for recreational purposes.

Bartolo Colon appeared to be the half-season boost for the rotation and probably would've been the 4th starter in the playoffs until he went back to the DR for "personal reasons" only to inform the Sox that he'd be staying there due to dissatisfaction over his role with the team, a very stupid move by someone trying to regain value in the eyes of major league GMs

It's a reference to Colon' date=' who bailed on the team late in the year by going home.[/quote']

Because he didn't want to pitch out of the bullpen

Oh yeah, i remember now, he brought his fat ass over here and now plans to "regain value" by playing in winter ball, lol, what a douche.

is that a justification?

That's his justification. Personally I think it's nonsense. I would kill to be a big league pitcher in any role, it just sounds so stuck up for a guy to throw that kind of hissy-fit just because he can't have his preferred role.
