You know what the stupidity of this is?

People care about Posada and Jeter being able to move to 1B.

Hello?

Both players would be below-average 1B in offensive production. Why are you saving a premier offensive position for a player that would be below average offensively? It's not like you're saving 1B for Arod.

Be serious. If signing Tex means there is no room for Jeter in 3 years...so be it. Same goes with Posada. Any player for that matter.

Unfortunately, lesser forms of intelligence dont understand that adding a guy who works pitchers is helpful. I am not saying Swisher is a guy who will be hitting .300 and 40HR. But, when you consider he had a rough go in Chicago, was in Guillen's doghouse early, and really had a bad yr, you should be able to expect a bit of a recovery. If Swisher improves his average back to his to his career norm of .250 or higher, then he's useful.

For the statheads out there, Swisher had a LD% of 20%, a BABIP of .249 and led the majors by far with a 4.51P/PA. He'll, rebound.

You dumbass...I was the first one to mention he led all players in baseball in pitches seen per plate appearance. So I guess you are right. Since you didn't realize it until I said...you have finally proved how dumb when it comes to baseball you really are.

Dude..is the sun always shining on your ass? Why is it that every player the Yankees sign will improve, and every player the Yankees let go will decline? Why is it that every move the Yankees make is a good one? The truth is...due to distractions, media, etc...most players decline their first year in New York.

You really need to go to NYYFans. Then you can sit there and come up with trade proposals that will send Cabrera and Coke and Swisher to the Cardinals for Albert Pujols.

You are a bore.

My point is, that we got a guy in a buy low opportunity by sending the White Sox 3 players that really didnt have a chance in this organization for a guy with light tower power and the most patience in the league. He also happens to be 27, a switch hitter and can play 4 positions. I would think that his stats suggest a turnaround of sorts. I dont expect Teixeira numbers. But I do expect him to get back to the .250 range in BA, hit 25-30HR and have an OBP of .370 or so. These are not totally unrealistic. And when you factor in the likelihood of a power surge in Yankee stadium with the very short RF porch, then he could be much more. I have a feeling that the .219 was a low point. But who knows, if he slides down to the Mendoza line next yr, then I'll admit it wasnt the best move to go his way while lookin past Tex. But right now, with the balance in this lineup, he doesnt need to be a superstar. We just need health.

Jeter should be a Yankee for life. Seeing him in another uniform would be somewhat disconcerting.

He's a plus defender in 1B and average on the OF corners. His Range Factor (RF) and Zone Rating (ZR) were wayy above average, he's a defensive improvement over Giambi and Abreu (by much). Doesn't hits for power? He hitted 35 HRs in that huge ballpark of Oakland.

Agree

Again he's average in the corners and a plus defender at 1B go check your defensive metrics. He has 10 errors in 1646 INN at 1B. With a RF of 9.52 and a ZR of .813. I can live with that. He's a weaker bat than Giambi but not by much. He compensates it with defense and speed. You won't notice the difference if he goes back to his .850 OPS form.

Agree, he might even put up better numbers than Giambi next year.

BA is the most overrated stat ever.

Truer words have never been spoken.

A guy that putted .850 OPS season in Oakland should be a bench player? He averages 25-30 HRs per season and they should bench him? It's a great move, you have to know Swish is not a .219 hitter, that's why is called buying LOW.

You butchered the english language, but agree yet again.

Marquez sucks, end of the story.

Don't agree, this will be proven over time, but it might very well be the case.

Swish never adapted very well to the White Sox. He was used as the everyday CF (which is the position he's played less on his career) and as a leadoff hitter. The relationships with Ozzie Guillen were bad. If you know how BABIP and LD% can help you measure 'bad luck' then do so. He's the perfect fit for the Yankees because they need to get younger' date=' athletic, with good defense and cost controlled. Considering what we gave up, it's a great move imo, and it'll help us a LOT.[/quote']

Hell, it might be the trade-steal of the offseason, great move by the balding wonder.

I'm not that sentimental. It would be nice, but not at the expense of of losing one of the top 5 1B in the game.
