No, by saying PLAY I mean exactly that. The issue got to the point where everyone finally took him at his word, there was no choice. A guy refusing to get on a team plane, having to be literally coaxed on, by people with pride and people that love the game, because meeting the obligations of a 20 million dollar contract were not even close to enough to get him going???? If he did not get traded he was going to need "time off" to rest his injured knee, and it got to the point where he made it clear time off could mean the rest of the season.

So it's not 'what could have been', we knew what was to be, and what was to be was that if he did not get a contract extension he was going to take a seat, and in taking that seat he didn't give a rats ass what anyone thought, including the 24 guys that wore the same uniform. So the 'what could have been' in the post season is not the question. The question is would there have been a post season if he had stayed, and that's a question, and a gamble, that I think everyone felt they knew the answer too and in the end a gamble no one was willing to take, and rightly so.

It is demeaning and disrespectful to the guys that did respect their teammates, the game and the fans by busting their asses through broken down hips, sore arms, strained abs and whatever, to grind it out for each other and the fans, their love of the game and anything else you can think of, the organization, to hear people question the hows and whys of this whole thing. That was why I said 'he flipped you all off' because if you heard ANYTHING he said after he left, he did.

But the thing that killed me in the end was this; he never gave a rats ass about any of us that suited up with him, not one iota. He was, and he said repeatedly, about going to the highest bidder and getting as much money as he possibly could, period. If that meant pissing on us in the interim, so be it.

One thing you know about Schilling, if he has an opinion, you're eventually going to hear it.

I'm glad we're hearing this again. The fan attention span is very short. Schilling needs to remind us that the Manny situation really was untenable and he really needed to go.

There still seems to be a large percentage of people who believe the Sox should have dealt with whatever crap Manny was pulling cause he would've turned it on for them down the stretch on the field. As long as people like that still believe that, Schilling should keep speaking out about Manny.

I was just thinking...

Manny's main goal is to at one point focus completly on hitting and not worry about the rest of his game, right? So he's a natural DH in-the-making and at some point he'll be back in the AL because of it right? He'd probably absolutely love to be a DH anywhere - happy camper, right?

So how shrewd would it be to bring Manny back at say, 20x4 (under the selling point "Power hitters like Manny are hard to come by right now.." and even sell the whole "David/Manny" thing again for half the year) have Manny play left, with Bay in right and Drew in center with Ells and Coco on the bench, then trade Ortiz in a deadline trade that would no doubt bring something of great value even if short term, move Manny into the DH spot, stick Bay back in left then resign him after the season?

Yes, 20/yr for a DH is expensive, but that's what Manny's going to be paid by someone in 2012 when he's finally a DH for the Angels or whoever - so why not the Sox and right now? And do you think Manny of all people would take same money in LA if he had to play defense every night over same money in Boston and just DHing?

Ok guys, rip it up!

f***. We get the point Curt. We f***ing got it already. The man is gone. Let it go' date=' you washed up blowhole[/quote']

Schilling was a good soldier for us. Manny wasn't 2 world series wins a huge contract he was still a scumbag.

Curt Schilling never f***ed with us and was there with 1 foot when we needed him the most. If Schilling wants to rip Manny he has every right too and the seniority to do so.

Nah can't give you a break when you have a Manny icon. That guy is a douche through and through. He offered to play for the Yankees bad mouths the team that made him a huge star and revenue whore.

Yet Schilling gave his guts and kept his world. I'm going to looj for the article in where he said in the winter of 03-spring of 04 I look foward to pitching this team to a world series title or two.

Manny was making coments last year about theres always next year. Jason Bay real baseball player Curt Schilling real baseball player... Manny a more clutch and bitchie A-rod

Every Red Sox fan should bow in Schilling's presence. He delivered the championship, in fact he delivered two championships. Maybe Big PapiEn Fuego is letting his politics spill over into baseball. Schilling is a Republican.

I just can't understand the "Schilling needs to shut up stuff" from Red Sox fans. He pisses off Yankee fans whenever he opens his mouth. That's enough for me to want to see him with a microphone. Until the Red Sox win a Championship without Curt, no Red Sox fan should speak ill of him for anything short of committing murder.

I don't think they would of won without Curt, but both times might of been a stretch. I just can't stand this whole Curt did so much idea that everyone wants to point out. Meanwhile, Manny was one of the best hitters in this team's history, and that's suddenly forgotten because he had some temper tantrums. Not all players are going to die for the team they play for. I've learned to accept it. Most of the things dealing with Manny were not running out grounders which i can deal with when he already hits the way he does, and then it was heresay. He didn't go out of his way by going on radio shows or making a f***ing blog talking about teammates or anything else.

And about this year. I doubt Schilling pitching would of made a difference. Thinking he would is pretty ridculous. This season went far, and could of went farther if it wasn't for dead hitting and Beckett being hurt, not because schilling was hurt.

Even if we do win bro... the fact that he had guts glore broke the ice of a 86 year drought. The guy is 13-4 in the post season he has 3 world championships to his name. He is the best big game pitcher in baseball right now.

As much as I love Beckett he struggled with losing 3 miles off his fastball this guy lost 7-8 last year and still gave us close to 7 innings. And shut down the choking LAA Angels.

Come on man. It has nothing to do with that. Don't drag that political crap into this. I don't care if Schilling wanted to vote Hitler into office, it's his choice.

We forgot that cause he ran himself out of town. Yes not all players give their blood to the team but can you not bitch about getting 20 mil a season? Can you run out a fly ball? Can you not throw punches at Youkilis? Can you defend Coco Crisp in a brawl like the 24 other guys on the team? Terry Francona is 1 of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and he can't stand him.

Is Manny a great hitter? Yes? Would I rather have him or Curt Schilling? I'll take the winner.

No, it does not. Manny might of, but it was at the end anyway, and he was gone. It's what needed to happen. It was best for both sides. I am happy he got to play in LA, and I was glad the red sox had jason bay and he enjoyed sucess here. What I am basically getting at is why Schilling hasn't given up on this whole thing yet. He is the only one who talks about it over and over again. No one else on the team has anything to say. Schilling can talk all he wants, normally it does bother me a bit but this is just dragging on and on. He won't be satisfied till either him or Manny is dead.

Exactly what I've been thinking since that douche made that phone call in during the game. How is that anything but unprofessional?

THIS.

This and 24-1.

You can put up with a lot, and the Red Sox really put up with a ton from Manny, but there IS a line, and Manny was on a calculated campaign to cross it. I wish more athletes were willing to call guys out when they did this.

I agree - the $8 million Schilling stole could have put us over the top.

PS I actually don't care this time, because it's the offseason for both the Sox and Dodgers right now- less distractions.

Rumor is he pulled this off his blog right after he posted it though - why would he do that?

We would have had an excellent chance of going all the way.

This could go many ways. It's a team effort, not just a Schilling effort.
