Starting a thread titled RIP 2008 RED SOX is fine if it's intended to start discussion as to why the team (seemingly at the time) got blown out in this series. Instead, we got the following literary masterpiece:

My condolences. I LOVE IT!!!! :harhar:

He's a f***bag troller who, in the end, got the egg of a thousand chickens all over his pimply face and regardless of what happens in the rest of the series, karma was a bitch

I realize there was no intent to start legitimate discussion with the thread. My comment about legitimate discussion was meant to indicate that he does engage in meaningful discussion elsewhere. It's clear what his intent was here, and therefore any and all comments directed his way are fair (in this thread) IMO.

They are fair...I just want to point out that BoSox21 is a whiny bitch, along with Noah's Sandwich.

I hate the Red Sox as much as anybody, but you have to be an idiot to not be impressed by the way they play with their backs against the wall. As soon as the crowd got into that game, I knew Tampa had no shot. I even called Drew's homer the pitch before it happened.

The only issue in this series is now which Beckett will show up. If it's vintage postseason Beckett, you can write your ticket to Philly. I really don't see how Tampa recovers from this loss.

8 game winning streak up to this point for ALCS elimination games. If they pull off the comeback, theyre very much resembling the scary late 90's Yankees

There's some cherry-picking going on here. We didn't do too well in an elimination game in the 2005 ALDS after all and people are sort of selectively remembering around it. Still, our record in elimination games during the Francona administration is incredible.

Fortunately that's only a one game sample size vs. the total picture.

3-0 in '99 ALDS

0-1 in '00 ALCS

3-0 in '03 ALDS

1-1 in '03 ALCS

4-0 in '04 ALCS

0-1 in '05 ALDS

3-0 in '07 ALCS

1-0 in '08 ALCS

15-3.

Actually, you're a better comeback team, period. We never really had to come back. We came back in 96 down 2-0, and in 98 down 2-1. Other than that, we pretty much dominated 99 and 2000. You guys came back down 3-0 to us and 3-1 to the Guardians, and those are already more than we had to do.

I honestly don't have that much of a problem with Gom. He trolls sometimes but he's a pretty good poster even though we disagree with most of his points. At least he contributes something--whenever he predicts something, we know we can expect the opposite.

The overall all record is a bit deceiving since the worst a team can do in elimination games in a particular year is 0-1.

The Sox record in being able to stave off elimination, or in other words, come back to win the series after being in an elimination position is 5-3 in the years you've mentioned.

Still pretty damn good and highlights the Sox tenacity in such games.

What difference does it make? The end result is the same.

well, we can finally write this in stone. The sox pitch for the series ended tonight. The sox are a team that you can NEVER write off until the final out is done. They were a great team this yr. But thank god its over. I tip my cap to the sox and know that my team as configured right now still looks up to the sox in terms of how to put a good team together. But all that can change this offseason. Enjoy the night y'all, I gotta go to bed.
