Yeah' date=' we should bunt.[/quote']

Wouldn't have been insane. A good bunt by the slumping Pedroia would have moved Ellsbury to third with a chance to bring him home on an out.

I would bunt with Bay' date=' right here.[/quote']

Heck yes. They're playing back. No one would expect it!

Element of surprise baby!

Dude, he hit .325, you don't bunt with him.

Another Off-topic post: Has anyone seen Vladimir Guerrero and Booker T of WWE fame in the same place at the same time? If pulled off a Spinarooni in right field, I would be less than shocked.

Yeah, that's insane.

You don't give up a .325 hitter.

He's slumping right now, sometimes you do bunt to beat a slump Besides, Peddy's a decent bunter and he might even reach.

No, that's really stupid.

What CB said

Bunting is not insane if the result is tying run at third, 1 out, Papi up. I'd rather have Ellsbury steal, but bunting in a RISP, 0 out situation is not ridiculous.

But whatever. Not worth arguing about.

What about the times when Ortiz bunts because of the shift? Same prinicple' date=' really...[/quote']

When was the last time he did that? 2005?

So yes - stupid.

If you want to bunt with Varitek, that's cool, but I'm not letting an MVP candidate bunt with a guy on 2nd and no outs. There's a good chance that he hits the ball to the right side anyway.

In the 5th inning? With a .325 hitter?

I've always thought the same thing. For years.

No, it's not.

Ortiz is bunting for a hit, with no fielder within a mile of him. Pedroia is bunting to give himself up.

Bad, bad idea.

Sure, if that .325 hitter is 0 for his last 10. THere's pros and cons to it.
