I'm sticking with the Giants as well. They have the best rotation of the entire group. Although I'm surprised Oakland hasn't gotten any votes

I'm going with Seattle. Griffey coming back might be the spark the ball club needs. If Felix hits his stride and Bedard bounces back that's a very strong 1-2 punch. It's Beltre's contract year' date=' and we all know what that sometimes brings out in a player. But they are most certainly a longshot. They need a lot of players to step up and play to their capabilities. But if the right pieces fall they could have a shot.[/quote']

lol

Griffey a spark? Really?

I don't really see any of these teams having a Cinderalla season.

If Bannister can bounce back, the Royals will have 3 solid guys in the rotation. They may be able to finish .500 for a change. But they still need some bats.

Renteria will help the Giants, but they also need more bats. Bengie Molina was their best hitter last year. That's all you really need to know. Fred Lewis is an emerging talent. Winn is good but getting up there in age. Rowand's numbers are all over the place. Sandoval could be legit. Their bullpen is atrocious.

I am picking the Reds.

They are playing in a very weak NL Central, boast an impressive young pitching staff, and have some pieces on offense.

Being managed by Dusty Baker might keep them out of the playoffs, but they could challenge for a Wild Card spot.

My thoughts exactly.

I'm not sure they'll get the Wild Card, but there's a decent chance they'll be in contention. Volquez is an emerging star and if Cueto can be fairly consistent that's a nasty combo there. Lots of good young talent.

Good point on the Dusty Baker factor though. Who knows, he might let Volquez try to throw 4 CG's in April and ruin him for the rest of the season.

And what's this talent you speak of? They have Felix atop their rotation which is fine, if you can get past the fact that he's thrown 200 innings once. They have Bedard who is coming off major shoulder surgery. Besides that, they have Morrow who I like but what are they really gonna get from him?

They had an awful lineup last year, lost their best bat from that group and replaced him with Griffey. I don't see where Mariners optimism can come from.

There a long shot for sure. But I picked them because there less obvious then some of the other teams.

The San Diego Padres- I don't consider them to be an underdog, unless they have to sell off everyone.

The San Fransisco Giants- Giants have strong pitching, if they can pull together a lineup they will be in there.

The Washington Nationals - Hahaha

The Seattle Mariners -

The Baltimore Orioles - No chance

The Kansas City Royals- They are starting to put together a nice team(there more like TB then any other choices)

The Pittsburgh Pirates- Hahaha no chance

The Cincinatti Reds - Good young talent, tough division

The Oakland Athletics - Oakland always seems to hang around

Other (Tigers, Braves, et cetera. I only have ten options) Tigers are not an underdog, more like under achievers, Braves are ok, but they have to go threw Philly and NY, plus its about that time for Florida's every 6th year title run.

I chose between the Giants and the Reds. I personally like the Reds better as a team' date=' but I chose the Giants because of the crappy division. Could you imagine if the Giants got Manny? (doubt it)[/quote']

They would probably be the favorites for the division.

Manny hasn't signed yet tho. Albeit with there new offer it's probably all but done. If SF came in and got him now, it be the headline of the offseason. And it would be a major hit to LA.

I like the Nationals more than the Padres.

Their lineup is so much better than San Diego's. Here are the PECOTA projections:

Guzman: .323/.361/.455/.816

Milledge: .281/.352/.442/.794

Zimmerman: .289/.358/.471/.828

Dunn: .262/.396/.541/.937

Dukes: .278/.386/.486/.872

Willingham: .266/.360/.466/.826

Flores: .252/.316/.432/.748

Belliard: .267/.337/.410/.747

They don't have very good pitching and that keeps them out of any playoff talk, but I'd give them 75 wins or so. And the Padres have Peavy and Young, but after that they have Wade LeBlanc, Kevin Correia and Cha Seung Baek. In their rotation. The Nats have a better back three than that.

SF chance is now. After Manny balked at LA's most recent offer theres a window. If they jump in and offer 2/50M, or 3/60(with Incentives that will make it 75M total(25M per year)), they might have a shot.

Giants have the pitching to win the division as it is right now with the Manny-less Dodgers, and if they were to sign Manny they would not only seriously damage the Dodgers' chances, but also become the best team on the division.

I'm going to have to go with the Padres' date=' based on some of their talent and the conditon of their division.[/quote']

im sorry man but the padres look like a total mess this year.

im gunna have to go with the tigers. i think they bounce back after everyone and their moms thought they were goin all the way. there gunna be battling it out with minnesota and clevland all year though
