Because the people who pay those taxes get s*** on, to build some billionaire's new "profitable stadium."

Why doesn't he use those profits to build the stadium with his own f***ing money.

I'm not disagreeing with a word you said, but that still doesn't answer my question. The fact remains that the new stadium will bring in more revenue than the current one, whether it be privately or publicly financed. You're not making sense here.

26 - Why are they celebrating like they won the WS? It's an honest question.

Why can't they just enjoy it? Does it offend you that they are celebrating a win at the final game of the ballpark's existence? They're not running around popping champagne and jumping all over each other. Last night's postgame display was for the fans.

The point is the taxpayers will see none of this new revenue.

I am of the opinion that it looks almost foolish. My opinion.

What's your point?

Some of the things I'm reading in this thread that some of you Sox fans are posting is making me sick. Why must you look for things to take issue with on what was for the most part a great night and a beautiful tribute. Always looking for something to bitch about when it comes to the Yankees. Grow up. If/When Fenway closes it's doors you guys would be throwing a fit if you saw reactions from us Yankee fans similar to what we're seeing from you. Absolutely sickening. Get over it, you don't care for the team or the ballpark, that's fine. Don't spoil it for everyone else.

We are just posting our thoughts on the ceremonies. Why would that ruin anything for anyone? I thought it was a ridiculous over the top ceremony full of saccharin sentimentality lapped up by a bunch of nostalgic fools. ... but that's just me. I was at Carl Yastrzemski day in 1983. That was nostalgic and sentimental, because we would never see him play again. Next year, the Yankees will play on a field with 90 foot bases and home plate will be 60'6' from the pitching rubber. The dimensions of the field will be the same, so I just don't get the nostalgia. When Jeter or Mo hangs em up, I'll understand the sentimentality and the nostalgia. With regard to this Cathedral crap, it's just a bunch of self indulgent sentimentality.

You're an idiot.

The publicly funded stadium takes money out of the hands of average people, and puts it into the hands of one of the richer people in America. When he gets his new stadium built, he sees ALL OF THAT revenue. You're right it will lead to more revenue, which will be reaped in by Hank Steinbrenner.

The taxpayer gets s*** on. Again.

You guys don't seem to grasp what I'm trying to say. All I'm trying to say is that the reason the Yankees brass opted to build a new ballpark is because of the profits involved. I never claimed that the taxpayers would see any of those profits, not did I claim it was fair. So you, Crespo are the idiot. Idiot. The question was asked why a new stadium was being built, I gave you guys an honest answer. Greed and the desire for more money, and you guys are jumping on me for it. f*** off pricks.

No one is jumping on you for it dude. It doesn't make any sense, especially with the state of the Bronx, to take more money out of NYC taxpayers' wallets.

don't see what that has to do with the point I made? Yeah, the Yankees and the city completely lied to the public, which is despicable, but what does that have to do with the factthatthe new stadium is more profitable than the current one? Absolutely nothing.

I thought you were talking about the city, and I didn't see you answering the question.

This is how business works. If JP Morgan Chase said give us a tax break or we're taking all our offices to Jersey City, JP Morgan Chase would get a tax break. It happens every day, especially in New York.

What was the last Stadium that didn't use public money?

What are the odds that the Yankees will leave New York? You can't compare the Yankees to JP Morgan Chase.

Besides, your basic argument doesn't even hold water. JP Morgan is saying, "lower our taxes." The Yankees are saying, "On top of our sweet deal to play baseball in New York, renting the area for $10 a year, causing a $51 million debt service, we want $850 million dollars from your budget to build us a stadium."

They came pretty damn close to leaving the Bronx for Jersey in the 90's.

I know it doesn't, absolutely. However, that doesn't change their motivation for building the ballpark. One that was SUPPOSED to be privately financed. It's a shame things turned out the way they did, but just another example of greed.

The Patriots tried this,Bob Kraft had his Connecticut Patriots hats printed,he had tea with Buddy Cianci in Providence, they had the guys from Los Angeles Houston and Memphis come around...

and collectively the government and the citizens of Massachusetts told Bob to go f*** his blind aunt.

Amazing thing happened.

Kraft, with some help from the state on widening route 1 and getting the trailer park behind him,

managed to build a new stadium,on time on budget and without a nickel from the tax payers of massachusetts...The idea of the taxpayers funding the redsox or the bruins or anyone for that matter wouldnt fly here...

The taxpayers of NY are feeding billionaires with their tax dollars, the tax payers in new orleans are feeding that f***ing queer with the umbrella, the genious's in houston are feeding another set of billionaires yet they dont have power in 20% of their neighborhoods..

If the yankees packed up and moved to bergen county or westchester or stamford do you think for 1 minute the bronx would be in worse shape than it is now?

Their are 3 places that benefit yankee home games,Stans, the Bronx bowlarama and that s*** hole up on 159th that has that gigantic black dude with more bling than ft knox at the door.

Nobody hangs out there during night games unless you're ready for battle.

the reality is the yankees would probably generate MORE revenue for local businesses if they got the f*** out of the cesspool theyre in now and moved to a more sterile, safer environment that had people willing to hang out before and after the games.

Fenway in this regard blows Ny out of the water in evening games

i guess this is why it costs 40.00 to park in boston and 12.00 in Ny.

My first and last experience at yankee stadium was last friday night. The crowd was dead quiet. On our way out in the 7th a cop hit a bum and knocked him out cold right in front of the belacher exit, my friend and I were the only two who saw it- the bum didnt move for 10 minutes and was carted off in an ambulance. We proceeded to that bar across the street only to see every greased up NY slimeball trying to pick a fight with eachother while attractive but overly made up girls followed the dancing douchebags around and our overtanned, coked out bartender danced way too energetically to whatever faggityass song they were playing at the moment.

Could someone remind me why did I needed to see yankee stadium before it closed?

NEW YORK -- New York City police say they arrested more than a dozen people for stealing pieces of Yankee Stadium during the 85-year-old ballpark's final game.

Police say 18 fans were charged with possessing stolen property.

Officers were out in force for the stadium's final game on Sunday to keep souvenir hunters from tearing away pieces of the place.

Yankee spokesman Howard Rubenstein told the New York Post that they intend to hire a private security team to protect the stadium from other would-be thieves.

God forbid fans would take anything the Yankees could make a profit off of in an auction

Oh no, it got pretty close. But what it came down to was politics and technicalities, both for the possible Jersey relocation as well as to the West Side of Manhattan.

You're stupid, dude. First off, the Bronx would be in much worse shape if it's biggest attraction were no longer there. Second, if you don't mind my asking, where are you from? I may not have grown up in the Bronx, but my entire family is originally from the Bronx and I've spent an awful lot of time there. I'm not saying it's the nicest place in the world, but you're being ridiculous. The area surrounding the Stadium is not a dangerous, ang infested place, you're just too stupid and ignorant to know any better you're too sheltered in you're white upper-middle class suburban neighborhood. A lot of people hang out there during game days. Now admittedly, it's not a big draw and there aren't too many people here when the tem is on the road or during the offseason, but that's not the point. And this line "Their are 3 places that benefit yankee home games,Stans, the Bronx bowlarama and that s*** hole up on 159th"" is just another shining example of your ignorance. That's 3 businesses within 1 block of each other, you moron. Venture a few blocks and see all of the businesses, some in pretty bad shape, that are benefitted by the Yankees. Just imagine how many South Bronx businesses would go under if the people who come for Yankee games every day were'nt there. Go up 161st street a little further and look at the diner's and restaurants that get most of their business from Yankee patrons. Look at all the gift shops within 4-5 blocks of the Stadium that wouldn't exist if it weren't for the Yankees. Get your head out of your ass and learn what you're talking about. The name of the bowling alley isn't even the "Bronx Bowlarama" and it certainly isn't $12 to park, that would be incredible. Try anywhere from $17-$45 depending on what lot you park in. Next time get your fact's right, google some s***.

I know it makes me sick. Especially the role Brandon Steiner and Steiner Sports plays in this, since they've drawn up a working agreement with the Yankees in the past few years it's gotten ridiculous. They switched all 3 bases every half-inning on Sunday (and the ASG). That way they have 18 bases they can sell for at least $2,500 a pop. That's an easy $45,000 right there. Not to mention all the other s*** they make money from in that building. Go to Steiner Sports and look at the outrageous prices they charge for some of this stuff. It's sickening.

That's just the way it is with some of these people. They're so consumed by their hatrid for the Yankees they'll stoop to this disgusting level. This is the cathedral of baseball we're talking about and these are the responses they have. I know that when Fenway closes it's doors I'll have nothing but the utmost respect and appreciation for what that place has meant to the game. Granted, I only have one Fenway experience, when I got to see the Yankees beatthe Red Sox one night back in 2001 when Bryce Florie took a line drive in the face off of Ryan Thompson's bat. Sure, me and my family were treated like s*** by almost everyone who saw us, but it was still a great time. And I appreciate the history of that park. I would never thinkn to act the way some of these *******s are acting with the closing of Yankee Stadium. Classless.

How so? I traveled 7 hours to take in a stadium that is filled with tons of history, and was sadly disappointed by the crowd, the people, and the surroundings. How is that pathetic?

The only time anyone even moved their hands for applause was when Brett Gardner robbed a home run from over the wall.

I find thta hard to believe. That place ie never quiet. I dont know what the case was that night, weather, blow-out, whatever; but I feel bad that you missed out on a true Yankee Stadium experience.

the weather was actually perfect- crisp cool fall night.

My buddy and I decided to attribute it to two things-

1) Yankee fans don't remember what its like to not make the playoffs so they forgot you can still cheer like crazy

2) There were lots of fans similar to us who were making the journey regardless of their affiliation

We were actually having a misreable time until we decided to make friends with the yankee fans in front of us and behind us- the ones in front of us said they had never seen it that quiet either. The ones behind us were at their first baseball game and didnt really know the "rules".

Either way, the cop sucked, and the bar across the street definitely sucked

Yeah Stan's is garbage. Mainly because it's always too crowded. I've never seen something like that from a city cop (the cops where I live are a different story, corrupt sons of bitches..I usually have the utmost respect for city cops because they have a job to do and aren't going around busting people balls because they're bored) but it doesn't surprise me. I dont think it has anything to do with theory #1 because I was there Thursday and it was bumpin. Anyway I'm sorry to hear that.

I been there a dozen times or so mainly for saturday afternoon affairs with the sox.

1pm starts in the bronx are generally nice events and when the sox are in ny on a saturday you got 20,000 brothers and sisters in the park...

Been there on a tuesday night against baltimore about 15 years ago and it was completley different, the place had 15,000 empty seats and a hint of anger at every point of contact be it the subway token folk, the hot dog vendors or the beer guys....then walking out of there at night time with a woman on your arm is a different feel altogether..english is the 2nd language and theres a sense of anxiety hanging over you like a f***ing mistletoe under a fat womans door...

everyones eyes are kept down, making eye contact is considered a threatening gesture and if you walk 1/2 a block in any direction you are literally taking your life into your own hands.

the cops are f***ing miserable, sardonic sarcastic and basically your stereotypical pigs.

fenway wasnt all vanilla pudding but it would take you a real long walk before you ended up in the jamaica plain area or way down into the old south end district but since the gays bought up all the old brownstones it has become a rather toney area to reside in...

it wasnt always that way.

i reiterate,if the yanks were really thinking about neighborhood investment they wouldve moved over to whiteplains, north jersey or even the west side perimeter but because they essentially stole the land they built the new park on it made more fiscal sense to stay where they were.

Of all the parks i been to it isnt the worst place ive seen but it certainly isnt the place i want my ashes dumped on..

The final nail in the stadiums coffin is in...Lots of misery was bestowed upon me in that building but i also have seen my share of good times there...

those last 2 playoff games in 2004 were the most memorable games in sox history.

between schilling owning them in game 6 and derek lowes shut down sinker and damon taking vasquez deep in game 7 were things i wont soon forget...the yankee comeback in game 7 2003 has to be one of their most memorable games, watching josh beckett on that saturday night shut them out 2-0 made that pain a little easier to swallow as 55,000 went home in disbelief...

Chris Chamblis walk off homer off Mark Littell in 76 or 77 was unforgettable,i always liked chamblis....

lots of great baseball played there..

Estranged former Yankee Roger Clemens was "heartbroken" when his former team left him out of Sunday night's Stadium-farewell festivities, which included a video montage honoring the Bronx Bombers' greatest pitchers - but not him, a relative told The Post yesterday. Clemens was sitting at home in hurricane-ravaged Texas, in front of a battery-operated television on his living room couch, when the team delivered a final crushing blow to its former star. Clutching wife Debbie's hand on one side and mother-in-law Jan Wild's on the other, Clemens tuned in to his final team's last home game hoping for some recognition for helping win two World Series titles, Wild said. But that Rocket never launched. When the team played the video celebrating its greatest players at every position, the steroid-scandal-scarred Clemens was nowhere to be seen. "Debbie and I held his hand while we watched the game, and he was heartbroken," said Wild, 70. "Not mad. He still loves baseball and the Yankees, but it was sad what they did to him."

You're still an idiot man. Reading your post at first was swaying me to change my opinion of you, but with the rest of your post that quickly changed. First off, the atmosphere of Yankee Stadium 15 years ago wasmuch different than it has been in recent years, unfortunately. 1:05 starts are nice, but not compared to a 7:05, IMO. Maybe the reason your frightened walking down those streets is because you're a bitchy little New England boy. That might explain it. I have never experienced or felt anything close to the feelings you described. And the reason they're still in the Bronx isn't because they "stole" theland, it was the public outcry when they tried moving to Manhattan or out of the city. That was the fans stupid, not the organization. We have an appreciation for our historic home. Also, it may be f***ed up to say this, but I'm glad you had to endure so much misery in that Stadium. I hope your two nights of glory and triumph were worth it.

26-6...

im stupid, you cant count but im stupid....

im from massachusetts, originally from somerville and now live in central mass in a quiet little village that is 25 miles west of the city.

You say""venture a few blocks""

i have on several occasions made this venture in the day light and it resembles harlem without the music and rao's resteraunt...

Theres a caribean resteraunt up the hill from stadium(stans on your right, heading toward the stadium on your left but take a right instead) across from the subway station before the 159th st stop that serves ox tail and curried goat which is nice play, when i go to Jamaica I dont dare eat the american food they serve so I do have a taste for the caribbean dishes....but i only go there in the light

at night the only thing i see is eyes and teeth and bad intentions.

Have you made this venture after dark?

You're calling me stupid and you walk around there after dark?

Ive been going to the see the yankees in the bronx when you were still s***ing yourself in your don mattingly underoos.

ive been in that building when they were good when they were bad and when they were indifferent.

Day games are fine, you did read that right?

how are those little diners and gift shops doing after the game when it looks like Moses leading the Jews out of Egypt in an effort to escape that s*** hole.

I reiterate for those who have a grasp on reality.

AFTER 10PM there isnt a soul venturing out of the immediate vicinity of the ballpark which is 159th and jerome...seriously,you know this and are either failing to admit it or simply dont know what you're talking about.

Meanwhile fenway is jumping until dawn.

You maybe one of the minorites that feels comfort being amongst your own in the bronx,i on the other hand prefer to be in an environment where I dont feel compelled to carry a sidearm when im with my family or a lady.

I liked Fordham,my cousin played football at Fordham,Rose Hill is very nice area but it doesnt cleans the rest of that s*** hole...

my brother lives in ny,im hardly a stranger.

In fact up till next year it was cheaper for me to drive to nyc,get a room, take the family out for steaks in manhatten and take in a game at the stadium than it is for me to scalp 4 for the yankee sox game in boston and go home..

I see the Stadium and Fordham, which is in decent neighborhood but outside that i dont see a f***ing thing worth keeping in the bronx.....

You ever hear

""Honey lets go down to the Bronx for a cup of coffee""

or

""Hey its a nice summer day, lets take an evening stroll down to the Bronx.....

or Hey Grandma want to go for a ride into the bronx??

Of course you never hear this, you know why?

Its because the place, the burrough you speak of, is a f***ing dump with few exceptions.

When staten island and queens look down upon you then its a sad state of affairs and ya,the last time i parked my car in the bronx was when david wells beat the yanks on a sunday night back in may 05,i came in from tarrytown and i paid 12-15 bucks and told the kid to keep the change so i could choose where i wanted to park...

have the prices increased since?

fenways been 40.00 to park since jesus wore short pants.

but im stupid...im ignorant....i dont know s***?

Stick to google,

I tend to believe what i pay out of pocket and see with my own eyes rather than do my arguing from googling..I have seen the south bronx with thine own eyes and the fact is the yankee fans would be better served playing somewhere else...You arguing that some diner in the south bronx is a good reason to build a billion dollar stadium doesnt fly with me...They stole the land and built where it was cheapest for them to build...Hank and the other Fredo dont give a f*** about some diner, they care about $$$...

Remember now I am stupid

you're trying to convince this board that the bronx neighborhood is a garden spot.

I am the stupid 1.

I have nothing against yankee stadium, nice seats, decent service, fairly close to the field and real easy to get to but the neighborhood f***ing blows,it blows today,it will blow tommorow and it will blow next year.

But dont take my word for it because i am stupid.

I encourage all of you to take a nice walk down 157th street around 11pm on a wednesday night in february and get back to us with the charm and beauty you discover.

hahaha you really are stupid and I suggest you keep quiet before you say anything else that is just wrong. First, your address is wrong, it's not 159th and Jerome you moron, it's 161st and River. Nice try though  And yeah, I've walked around there after10pm you idiot, most games don't get out until 10:30-ish, and I have family and friends in the Bronx. s***, I walked 10 blocks at 3am after the All Star Game to a relatives house. If walking around in a city patrolled by thousands of cops after dark is scary to you I suggest you stay in New England you little panty-waist. Here's a tip, don't mess with them and they won't mess with you. And I love how people who aren't from New York characterize bad neighborhoods as looking like "Harlem." Dude, you don't know s*** about Harlem, the South Bronx, or New York for that matter. Just like I know very little about Boston and New England. Don't act big because you've walked around a 3 block radius a few times in the daylight, you aint s***. Oh, and another thing, there is no 159th Street Station you moron. And again, you guys put words into my mouth. I never said "some diner is a good reason to build a ballpark there", I said that the diners benefit from the ballpark's presence, you f***ing idiot. And I don't need to google my New York facts, I'm New York born and bred. I never claimed that the Bronx was a nice place to take a stroll, or that it was a high-end neighborhood, because it's not. It is what it is, but it's got a lot of history. My great grandfather settled in the Bronx (Only a few blocks from FOrdham's Rose Hill campus) when he got off the ship from Naples, and I've had family there ever since. Don't look down upon me with your snobby, white upper-cl;ass attitude because you're scared of a few"minorities," you racist piece of s***. I don't know where you get off saying I'm trying to convince people that the Bronx is a garden spot, all I said about the Bronx is that it's historical significance in regards to the Yankees is why they kept the new Stadium in the Bronx, and rightfully so. You're scarfed forsome reason that you're gona get shot or mugged or something anytime you walk 100 feet in a New York city neighborhood, but that just isn't the case. Get in touch with reality you moron. And get your selective reading interpretation checked out, I never said the neighborhoods were great, charming places. But I'm not afraid to walk around my home-borough and s*** my pants anytime I see a black man. Bitch.

And as for me not being able to count, another moronic statement. My username was made in 2005 when the count was still 26 to 6. I've offerred to change it, but your fellow Sox fans get a kick out of me being stuck with this username. Fine by me, fine by them. If it bothers you, take it up with yeszir and the other Sox fans here. I've already told yeszir that he can change it at anytime, upon the request of you guys. Idiot.

And yes, parking prices have certainly increased since 2005, as I stated. the lot you probably parked in costs $17 to park in today. Not a dramatic increase, but not the $12 bucks you seem to all-knowingly claim. You dont know s*** about this place, stick to Boston beanhead.

Your math skills and baseball knowledge run hand in hand i see.

you use the N word very liberally dont you...

Let me guess...

you wear your pants below your waist with your hat on backwards with fake gold chains on your basketball tank top and occasionally bust out a dance move while strutting down the street jamming with your homies?

God I admire you.

You say Nigger liberally in the bronx do you??

You and your homies call each other nigger as in ""NIGGER PLEASE"" or me and my NIGGERS be chillin?

Or I''ll smoke dat nigga if he get up in my face?

Jesus Christ almighty are you a fatherless child who is looking for attention or God forbid an adult who speaks like this amongst his peers?

I know black people who dont appreciate the word and dont go around calling each other niggers,in fact it would get you carved up like a turkey where i am from.

bitchy little new england boy?

sonny if you only knew 1/2 the story you'd mind your f***ing manners.

being cautious and aware of my surroundings doesnt mean I lack the skills to take you over my knee and discipline you like your daddy shouldve.

I will leave this thread to you Nyers,it must be difficult when the highlight of your season is the closing of Yankee stadium.
