MATT CASSEL STEPS UP BIG TIME!!!! 2-0.

I'm f***ing pumped. Not gonna lie I thought this was a huge game today. Defense steps up when we really need them ( they are so good in the redzone) and gives Matt a chance to prove himself. I was surprsied how calm and collected he was to start the game, and it paid off. Nice to shut the Jet's fans up by handing them a loss on their home field with our second string QB. Sorry Brett.

Yes so it seems, but all week Pats fans have been pounded on by the media, other fans, especially the talk shows and this makes it so much sweeter. Matt Cassel showed me that he may not be Tom Brady but he does have talent and I'm optimisitc about the rest of the season.

Very true, but also remember that Cassel should get more and more comfortable as the season gets deeper. The season is still very young, but the Bills are def a much better team than the Rats.

Big game for Cassel. I wasnt sure because while he did do good the week before, it was the Chiefs he was playing against. But now he led the way to beat a better team in the Jets (on the road!) and opposed by Favre. Tip of the cap to you good sir!

Matt Cassel sucks. Their defense and tons of Jet mistakes won the game.

You just believe that. Meanwhile, the rest of us saw a guy who turned in a solid, fundamentally-sound game in which he took care of the football and used his head. Excellent work by Cassel.

He doesn't "Suck"' date=' but he's not [i']"Good"[/i], either.

I agree. He's adequate. His job right now, as an adequate QB, is to manage the game, not turn the ball over, and to keep them in it so that the other, better, parts of the team can step up and take them to victory. He's done that thus far this season.

The Bills certainly are interesting this year. I'd don't follow the NFL offseason as much as I do MLB's, so it usually takes me a couple of weeks to get up to speed on who went where. I found out Stroud went to Buffalo while I was watching the Jags yesterday (I don't particularly like Jacksonville, but it's who I get on the tube). That's a huge pickup, IMO. I thought their victory against Seattle was a combination of Seattle not being that good, and Seattle having a history of travelling East poorly. Turns out their D is legit. I think their matchups against the Pats should make for good, although not exciting, games.

Cassel put his team in a hole early on that set the tempo of the game. Opening drive had a 50 yard kickoff return, three and out. The next drive saw him throw an interception when they were already in field goal range. The going nowhere Pennington and the Dolphins have a 21-6 lead at the half

Cassell isn't the reason they are down 21-6. Miami is packing their s*** in with the run.

EDIT: And, they aren't pressuring Pennington. They are losing this game in the trenches.

Even if Cassel can manage the game and limit mistakes, I don't like the team to be a serious contender in January. Right now is a prime opportunity for the coaching staff to see what they really have in him. They should completely open the playbook, and see if he can handle it. If not, I think a move to acquire Garcia would give them their best shot.

Attention Patriots fans. On behalf of the rest of the football fandom world, I would just like to say,

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA NEENER NEENER BOO BOO HAHAAHAHAHAHAHAH

That is all.

Eh, it's not as bad as you probably think it is. We have no chance with backups like Cassel and O'Connell. Especially when your offensive unit as a whole can't stay on the field long enough to give the defense any rest.

Bah. I'll take 2-1, especially in our division this season. I mean, Baltimore is the only real threat, and I'm not sure about that yet, but I mean...Cincinatti is Cincinatti, and I'm not convinced yet that Cleveland exists.

We're also 2-1... Big Ben might be hurt too. Steelers lost. HA

so does ben rothstein, art rooney, chuck knoll, bill the great underachiever cowher and the entire 3 rivers perimeter...

ever been there?

the stink of ass and armpit is a nice frangrance in that putrid city.

the afc is up for grabs

indi is dead, sandiego is weak, pitt got 6 pts against a defense that allowed 38 the monday before, the pats got beat by a college offense that couldnt score on the feeble jets, denver stole 1 against the chargers but seem fairly balanced and buffalo is 3-0 but who believes in them just yet?

wide open this year kids.

if the pats dont find a running game theyre 9-7,if they do find a running game they can go 11-5 and maybe able to do some damage in the playoffs if their defense plays a little better.

the team we saw sunday wont win 4 games if they play like that the rest of the way.

the nfc is dallas philly ny and maybe green bay.

dallas looks great offensively but they can be scored upon often enuff to beat them..felix jones is on his way to being the rookie of the year and look for him to supplant barber as their feature back by november, world class speed at 5'10 225lbs coupled with a great verticle game will give this guy a lot of oppurtunity....

Amazing how the loss of one player can cause me to completely lose interest in the Patriots. Does that make me a bandwagoner? Probably.

For real? To me, at least, it makes this season so much more exciting. Of course I'd love to have Brady in there throwing bombs and racking up the points, but Cassel brings an element of suspense to the game that makes it more intense because there are no more blowouts and each win is a dogfight. We don't know what's going to happen on a week to week basis and that makes it very interesting to see how it plays out.
