Amazing how the loss of one player can cause me to completely lose interest in the Patriots. Does that make me a bandwagoner? Probably.

Fairweather fan's the term in this instance.

Then again, that's the perception of most Patriots fans anyway. :dunno:

Yeah' date=' I'm a baseball guy. I know football, but I just don't really care that much.[/quote']

It's cool, I'm just giving you s***... :D

If Cutler and Marshall went down for the year, it'd be hard for me to get excited for Sundays every week -- though the cheap beers and all-you-can-eat wings do help....

Good showing today. Cassel took more chances today which was good to see. They didn't all work out but it's nice to see him get the chance to make the big play to Moss.

Cassel has a good arm. I think he can be alright, he made some really good throws yesterday. He had one bad interceptions, with the first one his arm got hit. There isnt much he can do about that.

I know. It's so sad. :(

I love college. It's fun having people from all types of fan bases hate you for 3 hours every Sunday.

Thought Cassel looked very good on Sunday. If you remember that he's basically a very raw rookie who never really got too many snaps in college much less the NFL, and his D and O lines are both old and declining, what he's doing is fantastic. Hard to argue with 3-1 with a novice QB, even with the total sucktastic nature of the 1

Great, great, great, totally friggin' GREAT to see Cassel and Moss get some chemistry going! That's absolutely huge. It probably increases our season win total by one just right there.

Cassel was already pretty good at gaining field position, now he's learning all the little nuances of the NFL game that you can't learn by watching, which is incredible because of just how little experience the man has. He's starting to be able to pick apart bad defenses and he takes good care of the rock.

I'm starting to really, really like this kid.

But for the record, I'd trade Cassel for JT O'Sullivan in a heartbeat. Our pass rush is not good but that guy can really move.

I think Cassel's as ready as he's likely to be for the trial by fire that's coming up. The next month is full of good football teams, if he can come through that stretch 2-2 or better this team is going to the playoffs, JMHO.

O'Neal is getting BURNED tonight...

Nice to see Hobbs get back in there and make a big play... capitalized on Hanson's good punt, now time to capitalize on Scifers s***** punt.

Wow... just caught the tail end of that 4th down attempt... and... wow.

New England sucks... they're lucky their schedule is cake.

Better question than Randy quitting - how long til we see O'Connell?

If the coaching staff is high on him like I've heard, why not toss him in there? Can't get too much worse.

Pats with Brady= SB contender

Pats without Brady= average

The Pats have the worst QB in the league. Just because they're without Brady doesn't mean they're average. If they had a semi-competent backup QB, they'd still be a good team. Cassel has no sense of pocket presence whatsoever.

Pats with Brady = SB contender

Pats with Matt f***ing Cassel = average

Frustrating seeing Cassel not know what to do when he's under pressure.

He knows what to do, he tucks the ball and tries to run. O'Connell must be a ways away from being ready if we are still sticking with Cassel. He can't make proper reads, can't read quick enough, has terrible pocket presence, and quits on the play way to quick.

There were plenty of times last night when he had open guys and didn't see them, or it's 3rd down and he throws a route underneath that is short of the 1st down. The main problem though is not being able to go deep to Randy. There were several times last night where randy had a step and was behind the defense and Cassel didn't see it, and when he did he threw it too late and short. He keeps wanting the short and middle game, but if he can't go deep it won't free up the short stuff.

I'm just glad I wasn't at the game after some of the horror stories I heard about SD fans!

Do tell.

Also, I agree with SOTK. Obviously Brady is really valuable, but it's not like they're going from Brady to, like, Kerry Collins. It's Matt Cassel, he's way below average.

Brady to Vinny Testaverde or Doug Flutie would still make them a solid team (a bit of an obvious exaggeration there, but the point remains). Brady to Matt Cassel makes them downright awful.

And yes, mtb, I would like to hear some of those stories as well...?

Here are a few of the tamer ones i heard from pats fans:

* Chargers fans, as a group, are horrible. LOTS of punk Mexican kids in their teens/early twenties wearing Merriman jerseys, talking trash and trying to pick fights with Patriots fans. I ignored them, but saw some pretty horrific fights in the stands. Very uncivilized atmosphere, unlike Gillette. One Pats fan I saw had a bloody head after being wailed on and had to leave before halftime. The Chargers apparently contract outside for security, and security seemed disorganized and slow to respond to trouble. One San Diego fan who left early (a woman) wished me luck getting out alive. I wore my Pats gear, got harassed standing in line for the men's room -- very mean-spirited comments, and taunting, not good-natured ribbing. A really crappy atmosphere for visitors.

my son and a grip of pats fans went to the game as a group. because he knew there was going to be trouble he escorted a female pats fan to the girls room and was surrounded by a gang of 5' 3" hispanic charger fans. he tried to ignore the losers but one spit on him. he did his best to maintain his composure but once his female friend came out of the girls room, he jocked one on the jaw and they made a dash for their seats. when he told his friends they were enraged and wanted blood. thankfully, they couldn't find them.

I thought the days were gone when groups of fans around me would stand up during the game so they could watch the fights happening a couple sections over. I remember how stupid that could be at old Foxboro Stadium in the '80s and early '90s, before the Krafts bought the team and instituted a zero-tolerance policy for abusive behavior. The Chargers appear to be way behind the curve in that respect.

and more about patsfans watching the game (as if that wasn't painful enough) and getting attacked, beer thrown, ect....
