Correct me if I'm wrong: If the Jets lose' date=' then next week the Pats need to win and have either the Dolphins or Ravens lose to make the playoffs?[/quote']

that's correct

It could be possible we see a team with an 11-5 record NOT make the playoffs

If Cowher is coming back to coach, they'll never get him. Snyder will blow their offer away. Now, I'm a 'Skins fan, and I don't even know if I want that to happen, but he's lusted after Cowher ever since he left Pittsburg, and he spends money like no other NFL owner.

The Buccaneers really f***ing suck.

Yep. We're done. Talk about embarassing.

In other news, DeAngelo Williams has gone off for 3 TDs in the 1st half at New York. Good to see a local kid perform well on the big stage. DeAngelo is from Wynne, Arkansas, which is like an hour south of where I'm at.

Hows Jett Favre, the venerable hero who would lead the jets to glory, doing now??

Hows the Mangenious doing today??

They will both be on the unemployment line about a week from today.

THE most overrated qb in the history of football managed a svelt 3 points against the 3-12 seahawks who packed it in back in september and he got outplayed by...Seneca f***ing Wallace?

Im glad his legacy ends now,on his back,in the snow, beated by teams that he shouldve beaten.

How the Jets line up and whack the piss out of NE and Tennesee and then lose out to these f*** bags is astounding, really astounding.

so today in sport news , all you keep hearing is fire mangini and nothing whatsoever regarding brett favre

the jets were 8-3 and in the driver seat 4 weeks ago

Favre has done jack s*** since then , not that he has done much troughout the season

IMO the blame should go mostly to favre

Its not like the Jets have faced playoff teams since they were 8-3, very favorable schedule the rest of the way. Chokers if they are left on the outside looking in

The Pats can get in, by 2 different scenarios

Pats Win + Jets Loss + Ravens Loss resulting in wild card

Pats Win + Dolphins loss resulting in division

Eh, I'm a Pats fan too, but I would be careful to throw around the term "choker" without it coming back to hit you in the face...

Jets/Dolphins game changed to 4:15, after the Pats/Bills game. A lot of people are upset, saying that if the Pats win, the Jets have no path to the playoffs, and Mangini would rather see the Dolphins playing in the playoffs, so he'll purposely lose.

IMO, this is utterly ridiculous, because no NFL team purposely loses. Whether or not you're heading to the playoffs, you always play hard to win the game, especially the last game of your season. Those f***ing idiots need to shut the f*** up.

Go Jags and Jets.

If the Panthers lose and Falcons win next week, Falcons win the NFC South and a first round bye in the playoffs.

The Falcons are already a great story, but if that were to happen (winning the division)... wow.

I was aware of the time change, but the implication in terms of motivation didn't occur to me. While I agree for the most part, sotks, in that I think teams don't intentionally lose, motivation is key in any game. Motivated players will go that extra "yard", pardon the pun, to make plays. Watch Miami, they will be playing all out if the Pats win. You can't say the same for the Jets if their season is essentially over. Why put out that extra bit of effort and risk injury for nothing? I think "fairness" is best addressed by having them play concurrently.

I will put this out there, if the Pats do win, and then the Jets do subsequently lose, what's the over/under on the number of quotes posted by mtbykr on the subject of how the Pats got screwed? I'd put it at 4 right now.

Definitely agreed, there's far more motivation in having a division title on the line than there is in being a spoiler.

I guess I didn't think about it that way. I figured a team ending its season on a positive note, with a win, is more important to the team as a whole than worrying about whether or not their rival gets into the playoffs as a result. I suppose that I feel that they are professionals, and for their fans and pride, they would do as much as they can to win that game.

But even though the time change, IMO, wouldn't really affect the Jets' intensity, I would still have them play at the same time just so there is no question.

Should the Dolphins win, you'll hear plenty of uproar about it, but not from me. In the end, the Pats have no one to blame but themselves for not winning enough games to get into the playoffs under the set of rules. As it is, they would have to partially back into the playoffs, and no one wants to be in that position. That's all it is.

Point taken, though, ORS.

Apparently the Bears still have a shot at the NFC North' date=' though everything would have to align perfectly for them to win it.[/quote']

Not really. Aren't they in the same position as the Pats? Win the game, and have Minnesota lose? Seems pretty normal.

Glad to see the Giants decided to start playing again.

Great game to secure home field in the playoffs.

I believe I saw a massive f***ing hold on the long Ward run in OT...I know a lot of s*** goes uncalled in a typical game but this one looked pretty blatant and was costly.

Then again...if Carolina gains another 7 yards or so on their drive in regulation, they likely win, but they played it like pansies.

Who's the likely candidate to start in the season finale? :D

Tatum Bell still. But he was selling cellphones in a mall 6 weeks ago.

They brought up some guy I've never heard of from the practice squad and signed another guy I've never heard of to back up Bell, though.

Even with all the issues at RB, the Broncos still rank in the middle of the league when it comes to rushing the ball. I've never seen a team get so decimated by injuries at any one position. And their luck at LB hasn't been much better.
