I'll take Beckett' date=' Lester, DiceK before Lackey, Santana, Saunders.[/quote']

That's a tossup for me. Definitely Beckett, but the rest is up in the air, IMO.

If you face the Angels in round 1' date=' you may not even get to a game 4.[/quote']

I think the short series actually presents the Red Sox with a better opportunity to win than going 7. IMO, Beckett vs. Lackey twice is advantage Sox.

I disagree...I don't think facing Lackey twice in any series is any sort of advantage. Lackey is filthy...outside of Beckett's postseason record, which is no doubt unbelievable...Lackey is the better pitcher of the two. Lackey is extremely consistent, nasty, and underrated. I'm confident sending the Beckett to the mound no doubt...but an advantage? I don't think so.

John Lackey in 4 starts and 22 postseason innings since 2005 has posted a 4.84 ERA with an 0-2 record.

I'm pretty sure that saying "Advantage Beckett" on this one is a fair statement.

Speaking of Beckett, when he did his interview after last night's game, he was asked what he'd like to say to the fans. His response was, "Keep showing up, let's do it again. Like I said, first one to eleven."

What was he referring to by "...first one to eleven..."?

Doesn't Lester have fairly significant H/R splits?
Pitcher|W-L|IP|ERA

Lester Home|10-1|109.2|2.54

Lester Away|5-5|94.2|4.09

DiceK Home|9-2|87.2|3.18

DiceK Away|9-0|76|2.37
I think you have to go Beckett, DiceK, Lester, 4th starter.

Then again, there's the argument that if LAAoA takes the Wednesday series, you want Lester in Gm 2 because he'll be there for Gm 5 - in other words, two Beckett starts, two Lester starts, and a DiceK start instead of two Beckett, one Lester, and two DiceK.

Tito will probly run a 4 man rotation tough

Won't need to for the Weds. series.

10/1 - Beckett

10/3 - Lester/DiceK

10/5 - DiceK/Lester

10/6 - Beckett on normal rest

10/8 - Lester/DiceK on normal rest

I understand that everyone would pitch on normal rest but like I said tito will most likely go with a 4 man rotation .

if youre gonna bring season stats into it, then wouldnt either DiceK or Lester start game 1 as opposed to Beckett?

Lester #3, so he opens home. Beckett is still the #1 Just on the chance he turns it up again this post season, Game 1 is very important. If he can come in and dominate, it could get LAA thinking(we all know what happens when hitters over think) and get them playing tight. Dice-K is the best #2 option, because he will break up the power style of Beckett and Lester.

I really think it's important to go with just these 3 for the rotation, a 4th starter at this point is Wake or Byrd. And to be frank, there not the best options at this point. I can barely stand to watch Byrd in a regular season game, the thought of watching him in a meaningful playoff game gives me anxiety. The Sox best chance is throwing there 3 best guys at LAA.

That doesn't make any sense, though, and I think Tito will go with a three-man.

Nah, game 1 sets the tone, and out of those three pitchers I still like Beckett to turn in the most dominating performance.

Beckett's postseason track record speaks for itself. Start him in game one.

if youre saying take game 1, come home with a split and have Lester going for the decisive game 3, I can understand that argument
