I think he's speculating, sarcastically or not, tha the FO has an excuse to run him outta town. If there were a viable and affordable replacement I'd wonder myself.

 

Of course the Lowe comparison can't be validated at this point...Lowe was a well-known man-whore about town...I've not heard anything of the sort with respect to Varitek.

Lowe was a man-whore and his performance suffered as a result

 

Manny was a complete douchebag, faking injuries, abusing team officials, etc.

 

Varitek....is going through a divorce. I dont see how the FO would possibly spin that to get him out of town. That's like if they got rid of Drew after last season using the excuse that he sucked cause his kid was sick.

ya derek lowe was also the best pitcher we had in the 04 playoff run and they didnt offer him a contract,they instead leaked out info on his boozing carousing and get this,stepping out on his wife!!

manny was the mvp of the 04 world series,f***ing bastahd that he is...how did we find out nomar was bipolar and suffers from mental illnesses or that he turned down a 4/60 contract??....the front office p.r. machine thats how...the guys who run this team have a habit and a very bad one at that of throwing people under the bus as they leave town..

It's their way of getting the fans to support their decisions. They will never tell the truth which is that their decisions are business decisions rooted in economics. I am not offended by the business aspect of getting rid of local heros, but their efforts to defame and discredit the player with a well organized smear campaign is despicable. I thought it was a low blow by Theo to have McCarver call Manny out on National TV by telling him that he could say that they would consider trading Manny if he would waive his no-trade clause.

It would be out of line to be specific but the rumors surrounding Derrick Lowe involved stuff that was a lot worse than drinking and stepping out on his wife.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I remember soxie telling us something along those lines with Lowe in the post your pic thread. Can't remember for sure though.

I've been reading "Feeding the Monster" lately and the latest chapter talked about how there were online photos of a married Red Sox pitcher with a Northeastern University chick curled up in his lap several years ago. Who were they talking about? I'm guessing it was Lowe? Was there more to the situation?

Oh man, the stories I've heard about Red Sox players. Apparently every college girl in the Boston area has one. Basically every player is involved.
