I'm in favor of the trade, and was in favor of trading him in general. But Manny did a lot for this organization and played an important role in turning this franchises image from that of being a team that left it's fans heartbroken and disappointed on a yearly basis to being, perhaps, the model franchise in Major League Baseball.

But more importantly than that, to me anyway, is that Manny is one of the reasons that baseball, and the Red Sox, became anything more than just a casual interest of mine -- the reason why they became something of a passion. Manny will always be my favorite player to don the uniform, and I'll continue to cheer for him until the day he calls it quits. I just I really wish he could've ended his career with the Red Sox.

With that said, welcome aboard, Jason Bay! What's really unfortunate is that because of the shoes he's filling, a lot of fans aren't willing to give this man a chance.

Well He's gone, and I wonder if i should change my name? I will always be a Red Sox fan.... and also a Manny fan. Regardless of his negative antics he brought a lot to the Sox... But Maybe he will be happy playing for Torre, for a while anyway. In more or less words... I will Miss you Manny... In the green monster, missing balls, rubbing Julian, and most of all Helping Boston to 2 Championships..

Good luck to you Manny!! as sad as it is

Yep, good luck and thanks for the memories.

It's too bad he had to go from goofball back to punk, but it ultimately would have killed the team and it was time for the move. If it didn't happen now, it would have happened in the off season.

My favorite Manny moment would be his first game against the Yankees at Fenway Park, hitting a two-run walkoff single against Rivera giving the Red Sox a 3-2 win in extra innings. Thats where the love began. Sad to see him go, but after having a day to think about it, this needed to happen so at least we got a decent power return for him.
