It doesn't make sense for the Tigers. The Yankees have added to their team in a pretty helpful way.

 

It doesn't send shivers down my spine fearing Pudge (unless he gets Pudgy again thanks to HGH) but it's a nice pickup. Why Farnsworth would have ANY value for the Tigers I just don't know. I'm not screaming conspiracy, but usually I can understand things like this and now I can't.

Well, I do cheer the letters on front, i just dont take it to an extreme like many people. I'm not going to hate everyone who plays for the yankees. Also, he's from the same place as a lot of my family.

Acquired Minor League 2B Matt Cusick from the Houston Astros for RHP LaTroy Hawkins and cash considerations.

Cusick adds depth. Has some pop, has a good eye and a good glove. Not a bad move. Not a top flight prospect, but no slouch either

Not a bad deal from the Yankee's perspective, but they basically have a singles hitter at this point. His defense has faded some, too.

 

Still...this was a quality pickup that was the result of Farnsowrth's hot streak and now the Tigers can let the other shoe drop on his season.

Jose Molina is pretty darn good defensively. I don't have the stats in front of me (so I can't really support this point), but Pudge has regressed a little and I'm not so sure he's an upgrade over Molina defensively.

Only one can play at a time, and considering Jorge Posada hasn't spent a lot of time at catcher this year, this is not surprising in the least.

Molina has the better arm right now. But think about it. Molina is a big man, entering the twilight of his catching career. (obese, 33 yr old catchers are right near the end of the line). Pudge is an in shape future HOFer in the twilight of his career. I'd expect a 60%/40% split the rest of the month and the player who plays best will then start seeing more PT down the stretch, and god willing, into the playoffs
