The announced home plate umpire is Angel Hernandez.

Tracking back to 2005, in nine games called for each team by Hernandez the cumulative score for the Yankees is 45-38, while for the Red Sox it's 36-48. Hernandez has never called a Ponson start; he's called one Lester start, on May 9th this spring vs. the Twins, and Lester gave up five runs in 5.1 IP for one of his worst starts of the season. Lester had nine pitches normally called strikes called balls by Hernandez, six clearly in the zone, in just 94 pitches. Hernandez gave Twins pitchers nine bonus strikes that game; he gave Boston pitchers none.

We'll see how things work out. <_>

We need a rain out to advoid a sweep pretty much. The Yankees are redhot right now and catching all the breaks while the Sox are in another 2 week long hitting slump. Yankee fans enjoy this while you can theres only so long this weak hitting can go on.

I would rarely consider many games over the course of a 162 game season a "must win", but I feel this is one of them. Getting swept on the road would be bad, but at home would be flat out embarassing. We need to step it up tonight and get the job done one way or another. We have our best pitcher this season on the mound and they have Ponson. No excuses to not win tonight.

Bostonownsyou appears to be a Yankees fan in a mocked-up Red Sox forum name. Check the posting history.
I don't know what the story is, but I will take a closer note of the posts.

Either that, or he is the most pessimistic poster of all time.

Yankees don't come back to Fenway until the end of September. A 4 game series between the two teams to end the season? That'd make for some interesting baseball. (As if three games wasn't going to be interesting enough.)

This game won't get played. Its raining decently hard with lots of lightning.

Ye of little faith.

The storm line extended west to a line Concord-Springfield as of 5:48 PM, with clear skies behind that. From the National Weather Service:

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A

LINE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING DAMAGING WINDS IN

EXCESS OF 60 MPH. THESE STORMS WERE LOCATED ALONG A LINE EXTENDING

FROM NEWBURYPORT THROUGH WOBURN AND NATICK WOONSOCKET AND WEST

GREENWICH...AND WERE MOVING EAST AT 44 MPH.

I see the skies clearing around game time, and a good chance to play after a slight delay if the outfield isn't too wet. The new drainage system may pay dividends tonight.

 Do you know where any of those places are?

I was trying to be pessimistic. Thanks for ruining it.
