A rare good point by the 2 idiot announcers. If Posada continues to delay the inevitable surgery, he endangers his chances of starting the 2009 season.

I do not buy into conspiracy theories that teams will give the Yankees their players for less than they ask for from other teams. If the Yanks stole these guys from the Pirates' date=' shame on the FO for not doing a better job to make the deal.[/quote']

I'm not saying the Pirates conspired, merely that their assessment of what they were getting sucked. It's easy to surpass the talent the Yankees gave up in that trade without getting into the inner circle of who the Sox are developing. It's not easy to make the Pirates realize that is the case if they are intent on getting to the inner circle. You trade based on the value of the talent as you see it, not as your trading partner does.

I'm being sarcastic you idiots. That ball would have been out of Yellowstone.

Crisp, Ellsbury

Hard to watch either of them

Not if you're a Yankee fan. Then it's quite fun. Actually, it's more like a quick run to fridge for a beer.

I don't see what you guys really like about Masterson. High 80's fastball, good movement on the slider. A 6th or 7th inning pitcher at best. As for your core of players developing....don't hold your breath. You've gone with the youth experiment like we did, you did it in the pen and the rotation, and with the exception of Lester and Paps, the rest is s***. Same with the Yankees outside of Joba.

I've been biting my toungue at the level of stupidity you display in your posts, but this I cannot let pass. Heart? Afraid? What's next, did they lose their mojo? Let me guess, they need a good clubhouse "chemistry" guy, maybe bring Millar back? Then they need to get a guy with grit and guts who is scrappy, Eckstein perhaps?

Stop posting. No, really, stop, the foolishness on display here is epic.

No whats needed is timley hitting.. I could under stand if there were 9 Variteks on the team. But theres alot of good players on this team which makes it hard to take. Wakefield with 1 year the exception does not handle the Yankees well either he is afriad of them or they just have his number have to skip him at times.

Maybe no heart was too strong but this is getting brutal fast this team is alot better then the showing of late.

It's their job to make the other team see the value that is being offered. The yankee FO was able to do it. I think you nailed the issue in your post, without holding them accountable for the failure.

The knuckleballer is out of the game and it is the 7th inning and we are down 4 runs. When does Terry thinkit is appropriate to hit for the #9 hitter? Does he not believe in PHing? It was a perfect spot to use a singles hitter like Casey.

Washburn To Yankees Close To Done-Deal

By Cork Gaines [July 26 at 4:14pm CST]

[update: 6:04pm] Jon Heyman is also saying that the deal could be done in the next couple of days. He also notes that any compensation for Washburn would not be in the form of an extension from the Yankees.

Why would they want him?

Tito is strictly against pinch hitting, especially when its the catcher that is involved

I do not like this matchup for the Yankees. I think it'll be 7-6 by the time Drew comes up.

Make them see the value? While I'm sure they put their best used car salesman face on, sometimes you can't make people see things the way you want. The only other option is to cave to their demands for more, which, if you feel you are already offering more, is bad business.

I'm not suggesting they aren't to be held accountable. I'm just reluctant to throw around things like "want it more" without the specifics regarding the offers / demands.
