Bartolo Colon

(4-1) 3.41 ERA

Red Sox: The big righty has been one of the best early-season stories in baseball. The man who was unemployed in February has won four of his first five starts for the Red Sox. Colon has given up three earned runs or fewer in four of his five outings. Colon has made four starts in his career against the Phillies, going 1-1 with a 4.00 ERA. This will be his first start at Citizens Bank Park.

Cole Hamels

Phillies: Hamels stuck out 13 on Wednesday against Florida, his highest total of 2008. For the second consecutive start, the 24-year-old lefty looked firmly in command, walking only one and giving up two earned runs on three hits over eight innings in earning a no-decision. Hamels has never faced the Red Sox during his first three seasons in the Majors, meaning he'll have to contend with some of baseball's most explosive hitters -- such as Manny Ramirez -- for the first time.

This is a bad matchup. A strike thrower who relies heavily on the FB against a K heavy, FB hitting team who relies on the HR in a high school ball park. Oh yeah, sorry for the no game thread again. It occurred to me to start one today when I was at lunch, but by the time I got back to the office I was in full US Open mode, then I got home and the kids wanted to play. I surrender my mojo.

Well, I guess that the bat was traveling pretty fast on those three swings. Had it made actual contact with the baseball, it wouldn't have been a dribbler to third.

He's been swatting everything Cole has to offer tonight, and more importantly, he's look much better the last 4 or 5 games.

Just in time to se Pedroia and Drew go yard.

DAMN taht little Pedroia can hit. Not bad for someone who's bat's nearly his height.

And Drew, of all people, hitting, and not just recently. He's really seemed to settled in with Boston.

Come on Manny let's go back to back to back!

You know, I came back just in time for Pedroia's home run, too.

My mojo apparently sucks ass.

Talksox mojo got better when Thumper and I showed up.

Looks like they win when you and I create threads or show up.

Any word on why Colon's out after 4 innings?

Edit: 3 home runs + pitch count = new pitcher.

Spoke too soon on that one.

No, just because he gives up a hit in one game doesnt mean he hasnt been solid all season. Which is the point i was trying to make.
