That was a horrifically bad strike 3 call to Lowrie. Surprised the shoulder high FB to walk Ells wasn't a strike.

In that last inning you could see that the kid isn't yet very consistent in the field. I like him a lot, but Lugo hasn't lost his job yet. It will be interesting to see if he gets a few more hits tomorrow when he plays for Pedroia.

How consistent does he need to be to be an improvement over Lugo's 6 errors in 17 games? Is it because he bobbled that ball? I've see Lugo do that, but Lugo doesn't recover and make the play anyway. Instead he throws is 4 rows deep.

 

I know this won't happen, but Lugo should have lost his job today.

Lugo had a surprisingly good year in the field last year. In the past, his problem had been throwing, but last year he was very consistent, especially with his throws. This year he seems to have gone back to his pre-2007 fielding.

Glad to see Ortiz go yard and get a couple hits. Matsuzaka was solid. Bullpen did the job, offense was great all around. 11-7.

Lugo was horrific in the field in 2007. What metric are you going by? Or do you mean surprisingly good for Lugo?

Awesome game last night. Matsuzaka despite the long innings and walks has been a reliable starter. Ortiz is starting to come aound

6 for 24 (.250 avg) HR, 6 RBIs, 3 Runs, 3 Ks

 

And hey Lugo.... better shape up because a kid named Lowrie is licking his chops to push you out of your starting job

Dice K let his team down last night. They put up big numbers for him and he couldn't go 6 or 7. That was not a good showing by him, and his lack of command continues to concern me. Hopefully, Lester can give us some innings tonight. Back to back nights of needing more than 3 innings from the pen will put a hurt on those guys.
