I figure this one will garner more interest and activity than last night's game that was discussed on the shirt-tails of the opening game thread.

Phirst pitch at 7:05.

FB control looks really good so far. Keeping it down, and the glove isn't moving much. I'd like to see someone who has access to Gameday Premium compare his curves to someone with a real hammer. The ones he threw in the first looked kind of flat and appeared to be effective only because people were guessing.

You know who I hate? David Eckstein.

He got his 2nd RBI of the night.

But I agree - eckstein is one of those guys who live on reputations of his intangibles - just not have enough to be a ML player.

I think what was lost on a lot of people was that McGowan actually looked better till he got tired. The Blue Jay manager kept him in the game way too long. His breaking pitch looked good at the stadium.

Mussina has no business pitching before Hughes in this rotation - go ahead and prove me wrong Jackson.

I wont even try. Hughes was very solid tonight and is a better pitcher now than Moose is, no question. The FB wasnt really there velocity wise, but it was cold and he was locating what he had on the black. He did hit 95 on his final FB of the night, so it is there. Plus he was hitting 95 regularly in ST. Regardless, his curveball was very good today, and he held his composure with an ump that had a roving zone.

Just because Mussina pitched the second game of the season doesn't mean that the Yankees view him as ahead of Hughes in terms of their five starters. The only reason he started the second game was that once they decided that Pettitte couldn't pitch the second game of the year Mussina's pitching schedule at the end of March was easier to adjust. Just because Mussina pitches the second game of the year doesn't mean the Yankees consider him their "2".

If Cashman did not want to trade Kennedy for Santana - he must be brain dead.

Yes, because one inning (his first of the season) is a good indicator of how he'll do all season and in the long term. Nice leap.

No - it all comes down to 'stuffs'. Santana is an ace - Yankees don't have one.

If Kennedy is what was holding up the Santana deal, Cashman is an idiot.

It is similar to Lester holding up a Santana deal and I think Lester has more upside than Kennedy.

I missed the Yankee game that Moose pitched. Someone told me that Paul O'Neil said something about Giambi winning some Gold Gloves before he retires. Did anyone else hear this?

One bad game from the kid. He wasnt getting the corners and instead of manning up and gutting it out, he went into a shell. We'll see how he recovers.

BTW, the yankee bats have arrived. 6-4
