why couldn't anyone in the AL East go for him?

just today after the brewers score 3 in the 9th, leadoff single, 4 pitch walk, game tying homer for fukodome...

we miss you eric :)

Yeah, he did not look good at all. I was watching the game.

Particularly funny to me was the jersey he was wearing looked like a 6X and he wore it like a nightgown, untucked, until the plate ump told him to fix it

Gotta love it.... The Mitchell report comes out, and something strange happened. Also strange that the team he came from (Rangers) had more people on that particular report that any other team (in total, not active)... Cue the twilight zone music (and/or Benny Hill, if we're still discussing the Rangers)....

Here are Eric Gagne's 20 2007 appearances with Boston:
Leverage | WHIP

0.00 | 1

0.02 | 0

0.04 | 2

0.20 | 2

0.23 | 1

0.27 | 0

0.28 | 2

0.48 | 1

0.48 | 1

0.53 | 2

0.69 | 1

0.69 | 1

0.75 | 0

1.13 | 3

1.64 | 2

1.65 | 1

1.97 | 12

2.20 | 3

3.31 | 4

3.70 | 5
When the leverage was under 1.00--when the situation was less critical than it would be for a starting pitcher on his first pitch--he was great. The mean of these 13 WHIPs is 1.08. When leverage was over 1.00--usually a save or hold situation--he was terrible. The mean of those seven WHIPs is 4.37...the median is 3.00.

Look, this seems to be a case of an MLB pitcher losing his nerve...this seems to be Calvin Schiraldi redux, except with an ex-Cy Young closer suffering from the problem.

Signing such a pitcher to a $10 million contract to close for a contending team may have been a mistake.

calvin schiraldi bill buckner bob stanley rich gedman live and donnie moore does himself in?

i still see that fat wanker rolling her arms behind home plate.

worse thing i ever saw in my life, worse than the guy getting out of his car in front of the burlington mall and getting dusted by a 12 wheel box truck

I was 12 at the time, and I recall it being the first time I felt hate. I wanted bad things to happen to that woman and her white sleeves.

All the '86 WS games at Shea featured this twit lady who wore either a white undershirt or white sleeves to cover her forearm (contrasted against dark clothing elsewhere). These sleeves really stuck out, and she was right behind home plate. When the Sox were on the field, as the pitcher was staring in / winding up, she would roll her forearms like Daunte Culpepper after a TD. She did it incessantly. Every pitch.

Haha, Gagne gave up back to back jacks to tie the game for the Reds in the bottom of the ninth, before Griffey had a walkoff hit against him...I think the best part is that one of those home runs was to Paul friggin Bako, the career backup backup catcher with a .002 OBP.

Haha and again' date=' lets the Cards tie it in the ninth, Brewers win in 12 on a walkoff single by [b']Kapler.

I read where Gabe is doing very well right now.

I don't believe that minor-league managers are steroid-tested...:dunno:

Hmm. Probably a coincidence that he seems much stronger this spring.

Hinske lead Tampa yesterday, a single short of the cycle. He's been ripping the cover off it, .327AVE 5HR 10RBI

Remember when this guy saved 80 straight?

Yeah, I was pissed during that run. Everyone thought he was better than Mariano. Turns out he was just juiced up. f***ing Canadian!

in that stretch he was better than Mariano , but overal theres no doubt Mariano is better

what does him being Canadian have to do with anything?

Nothing really, no offense lol. Should have been more sensitive.

I have no problems with Canadians.

I just needed an insult to express my rage towards him; first thing that came to mind.

I can't believe I was actually disappointed that Ca$h missed out on him last year and let him end up in Boston. silly me...

But the only reason he was better than Mo is because of his drug use.

Finish this sentence: Another day in MLB, another....

(A) Blown save by Eric Gagne

(B) Abysmal pitching performance by Eric Gagne

© One inning, two run, three walk performance in which he manages to give up runs on a groundout to Kaz Matsui and a bases-loaded walk but still manages to get out of it with a tie after getting Carlos Lee out...Carlos Lee. He can't handle the Houston lineup to the tune of three walks in 2/3 of an inning but once the bases are loaded for Lee, he remembers to pitch correctly.

(D) All of the above

Eric Gagne sucks quite so.

Worse than that cheap Spitzer ho.

He blows most games.

He'll never see fame.

I'm so glad he was finally let go.

In hindsight - is the Gagne trade the worst Theo has made or is it getting Mirabelli back from SD or Arroyo for WMP?

And I know we all were excited when the Gagne trade happened.
