its all disgraceful whether its A-Rod or Ortiz but the way A-Rod plays the game is disgraceful as well

How is the way A-Rod plays the game "disgraceful"?

So you contend A-Rod is NOT a disgrace to the game?

There's much than the PEDs to his case.

Care to elaborate?

Not the way he plays the game exclusively, but A-Rod as the phenomenon.

The Arroyo fiasco, the infamous shouting incident, the stripper, the Madonna ********, the WS opt-out.

Do i need to go on?

The steroids scandal might be the less important item in the list of team-distracting, fan-base pissing activities A-Rod has been a part of.

The part about how he plays the game was directed at BoSox21, not you.

Lets take this point by point.

The Slap: Mistake by him. There is no arguing this. He got caught. He was just so frustrating, considering what was happening to the Yankees, that he did something stupid. This does not say anything about A-Rod as a human being.

The Stripper: Lets not starting making assumptions about A-Rod's personal life. That is absolutely none of our business. We don't know what was going on in his marriage, and I think, as fans, it is stupid for us to be talking about these things.

Madonna: Who cares? Seriously. Apparently they were dating. How the heck is this a negative about A-Rod?

The World Series opt-out: This very well could have been Boras' idea. We don't know, and because this is nothing more than conjecture, you shouldn't hold it against him.

Shouting Incident: Don't quite know what you're referring to. Could you please refresh my memory?

Question:

Did or did not all of the above "points" result in media shitstorms?

As for the shouting incident, look it up yourself.

Isn't it more of a challenge that way?

Not sure why you responded that way to me asking you about the shouting incident. I wasn't trying to be rude or anything.

As for the media, they're obsessed with A-Rod. That is not his fault. There are a ton of people in this world that would create "media shitstorms" if they were followed everywhere they went.

These things do not make A-Rod a disgrace to baseball.

Actually, they do.

Don't get me wrong, Manny was also a disgrace to baseball while on the Red Sox.

A-Rod is not the game's only superstar, the only reason he gets into all this trouble is because he keeps making stupid decisions.

I don't see Jeter or Pujols making headlines.

Do you?

Oh, and about the shouting incident, i wasn't trying to be a dick.

Oh ok, not sure how I forgot about the Howie Clark thing.

That was a mistake on the part of A-Rod. I'll give you this and the Arroyo slap. However, two isolated incidents do not mean a whole lot, and, in no way do they make him a disgrace to baseball.

Agree to disagree then.

I contend he loves the attention, and the only reason he gets into trouble is by stupid decision-making on his part.

I don't think his private life should enter a discussion about what Alex Rodriguez is to baseball. On top of that, we're talking about issues where we likely don't know all of the facts. You could make the case Manny, in some ways, was a disgrace because of things he did on the field. However, A-Rod always plays hard and works as hard as anybody in the league (according to everything I've ever read or heard).

Exactly the problem.

However, let me tell you one thing.

If, in your opinion, what a player does off the field has no repercussions in the game of baseball, then should we condone Brett Myers' actions?

What Brett Myers' did, if guilty, is illegal. That is a completely different situation. Your problems with A-Rod (or at least what you've stated) are a stripper and his relationship with Madonna. Those actions should not be compared to what Brett Myers' did in any way.

The reporter incident, sir.

Oh, I thought you were talking about the domestic incident.

I'll still contend they were very different. We know all the facts about the Myers' incident. In terms of the A-Rod incidents off the field they came as a result of reporters following A-Rod. On top of that, and more importantly, we do not know all the facts of the A-Rod incidents. That really is his personal life, unlike the Myers' incident. I really don't see too much of a similarity between the two.

They were fueled by stupid decisions.

But let's just agree to disagree.

Yeah, I don't think this is going anywhere, and nothing is being accomplished. I guess we just view these actions very differently.

I enjoyed the civil discussion, for what it's worth.

I try to keep it civil most of the time.

Besides, you're basically our only non-trolling Yankee fan.

I respect that.
