Yeah, add Trot to that list as well

And Flash Gordon

And Keith Foulke

I dont think these names will come out because I don't think that even 1/4 of the juicers will be exposed, but these are ones i'd question.

Current and former sox who might be on the list PURELY GUESSING:

Kapler

Damon

Walker

Bellhorn

Mueller

Nomar

Renteria

Beckett

Luckily for the sox, the majority of this list seems to be a result of new york clubhouses, which 1) is generally kept at a distance from the sox and 2) we haven't acquired many former new york players. I'm glad that pitchers are finally being looked at since they always just look at sluggers.

I actually hope A-rod isnt on the list for 2 reasons.

1) He'll still sign with the yanks but for less money

2) I want the next all time home run slugger to be clean

I really hope Pedro isn't on this list

I really hope Griffey isn't on this list

I'm glad Clemens is on the list

I really hope Scott Boras is on the list.

Why Beckett? I just think he's young, he improved and he's comeback a beast. His size really hasn't increased all that great to even suggest steroids.

And Griffey Jr. No chance in HELL he's on that list. He's pure baseball. I grew up watching him play in Seattle and even into the Reds organization. He's one of my all time favorites. And it would kill me worse to find he juiced than Ortiz.

2 hours until the report!!! COME f***IN' ON.

i'm a little suspicious of Griffey myself. the injuries he's had makes me wonder.

Looks like we don't need to worry about A-Rod's price coming down- he just finalized his deal. Good timing...

I can see Cashman in his office now...

Speculation:

1) The only time I've suspected A-Rod of PED use was March-April of 2007. Testing is less rigorous in the offseason, and I really suspect that A-Rod did something beyond training to get the most out of his contract year. I doubt that whatever he did then--if anything--was sloppy enough that he'll make the report.

2) As a reminder, David Ortiz has already said that he drank milkshakes during his amateur training in the Dominican that he now believes to have contained steroids. Also, Mike Lowell used steroids while with the Marlins under doctor's orders but without MLB Theraputic Use Exemption (TUE). He asked for a TUE before testing started in 2005; it was denied, and his stats in 2005 declined terribly.

3) Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see Nomar on the list...or Trot, Tek or Millar. I'd be very surprised to find Youkilis there because they were testing in MiLB as he was coming through. Upon reflection, the almost-forgotten name I'm wondering if I'll see is Roberto Petagine, a guy from Venezuela who had way more power hitting ability than one would've expected from his scrawny little frame.

2) I odn't understand why he couldnt get the exempton, wasn't he missing a testicle at the time?

Millar's someone I wouldn't be surprised if his name popped up. I doubt Youk is gonna be on the list.

WEEI reports a source has indicated that Pettitte will be on the list and linked to HGH use or purchase.

ugh...I need to go take a dump after reading this.

WEEI say anything about current Sox players besides Varitek?

Yes, he was missing a testicle; I believe that he still is. That's why he had legit steroid prescriptions.

As an aside, testicular cancer is itself a possible side effect of steroid abuse. Check Lowell's MiLB record: either he learned something regarding power hitting in his early 20's or he found a way to add muscle mass really fast just a few years prior to his cancer surgery. :(

At this point all I can think of is a montage of fat lying professional athletes with cuts to pills and needles and George Mitchell reading while Drowning Pool's "Bodies" blast in the background.

Would also explain why he looks like a run down 43 year old. Please Lowell don't be on that list...

holy crap!

look at this list of testicular cancer survivors and tell me the common denominator

Mike Gallego

Mike Lowell

John Kruk

Lance Armstrong

I know Kruk might not look like it, but the guy has been VERY VERY hard on anyone who suspects that there is doping going on in baseball. plus steroids was always treated like Mephs, not necessarily to build up your muscle mass (although that was also a factor)

You guys have nothing to worry about. George Mitchell works for the Red Sox. I'd be stunned if theres a Red Sox named outside of maybe Gabe Kapler.

While I don't agree with Mitchell being named to head the investigation....do you really believe this?

Well, if Lowell WAS on that list at least my mom would shut up about how cute he is.

My guess is that Lowell isnt on the list, if anything because he'd probably know where to find what he wanted from a source other than a MEts clubhouse attendant given that it was actually prescribed to him.

Strictly speculation, of course.

I love Boras' quote on this report, BTW:

Scott Boras, who represents a number of high-profile players including Yankee third baseman Alex Rodriguez, told The Los Angeles Times he hadn't read the report. He did, however, say he's wary because he believes "the concerns of due process and the standards that apply to it are relatively unknown. Certainly, any results that occur from the report have to be looked at in the light that this is not a collectively bargained effort."

"I'm going to assume that a lot of the basis for this is hearsay information," Boras said, according to The Times. "It's not based on any kind of clinical testing, so it is widely a product of hearsay testimony. Without clinical testing or hard evidence, any report like this has to be reviewed with great scrutiny."

Question for RSN - how do you feel that the 'captain' is on the list? You guys might know this that I was never a big fan of him - always thought his abilities were overrated and dirt dog approach(like Nixon's who is probably also on list) is religiously worshipped by fans.

I didn't know that outing steroid users had to be collectively bargained.

Personally, i don't give a flyg f*** if these guys used. thats their problem. Further, I think this report sucks because its a matter of luck and covering ones ass as to who is outed. We all know its only a larger tip to this iceberg.

As far as Mitchell is concerned...yes, an outside source would have been best. Since they didn't go outside the game- who should they go to? Personally if I were concerned about the accuracy, scope, and validity of a major report I'd assing the task to a former sox or yanks employee before I gave it to a former employee of the Kansas City Royals...

Abreau, no doubt.

And while it would have been better that they went with an outside source for investigation, I still believe Mitchell is credible and I don't think he'll hold anyone's hand.

Don't care, looks like Pitchers and hitters where on roids, so seems like the game was pretty even...LOL

I've said all along Vlad is about the only name I be surprised if he was on something...
