So what kind of guys are Drew and Lugo?

Like it or not - we are the Yankees now - only more successful.

two or more championships and I'll agree, otherwise we're hardly the new yankees.

Buster Olney can be such a Yankee fan at times.

" I think the Yankees will make a play for Mike Lowell and offer him more money and years than the Red Sox"...

" I don't see the Red Sox going after Alex Rodriguez because of the PR hit the front office may take"...

Alright Buster.....so we won't get Mike Lowell or go after A-Rod....so who are we going to get?

Such an ass

Why wouldn't they go after Lowell? They need a 3B.

Certainly a reasonable conclusion. I don't agree with it but I can see why others would.

I fail to see how this makes him seem like a "Yankee Fan."

Didn't Olney pick the sox to win the East at the beginning of the year?

I thought he was from Vermont - and he knows how to milk a cow ( from a M&M episode).

He is from vermont- about an hour south of where I am now.

PC, so that would be what....15 minutes...in the civilized worlds of CT and Mass where they've gotten rid of the horse and carriage?

I am all too aware of the other s*** you mentioned.

Vermont, nice place. I flew into Burlington 14 months ago over Labor Day for a wedding up at Stowe. Cocktail on the plane. Beer in the car ride up the mtn. Hit the ground running at the golf course and slammed two on the first hole to catch up with my foursome. Cocktails after golf, rehersal dinner at the top of the mountain...open bar. Night caps at a bar down the road. The pancakes and syrup the morning after may have been the most important meal of my life.

In the civilized world it'd be about 13 hours because you'd be stuck in city traffic and there would be some bums holding up the light 3 blocks up and every other tourist would be lost on the continual zizagging one way streets, and the big dig would be paralyzing everything moving within a 20 miles radius.

That's why I take the rickshaw when I'm in the city.

Fascinating discussions - was wondering how all these are related with A-Rod.

We get side tracked a lot - all in good fun.

Sorry, I didn't feel like calculating any PECOTA numbers or dealing with NPVs of A-Rod's 2004 Upper Deck Game Used Jersey baseball card.

But since I'm supposed to stay on topic, I have determined that A-Rod is worth $25.1035 Million U.S. Dollars per year or $22 Million Canadian dollars based on the following calculations:

(2007 Batting Average

*

2007 Stolen Bases

*

2007 Runs Batted In

*

156 Homeruns in 2007

*

3% of outs made are GIDPs

*

/

.444 2007 On Base Percentage

)

/2 number of transvestites A-Rod will accidentally sleep with in next 5 years

*

100% chance A-Rod will be a doucebag for every day in the rest of his natural life.

As you can see these numbers take into account much more than just the current dollar value paid and overall numbers. What the organization really needs to decide, is what the applicable this**** rate will be on average in the mlb over the next ten years.

Feel free to discuss. Sorry I got off track earlier.

I love that my hometown team can put some humor into this situation. The Mud Hens are also going to put into their programs for this coming year that A-Rod declined the deal because the terms were too steep, and that he wanted a shot in the bigs. Great stuff.

Well, you know it's a joke. Toledo is a successful organization looking to win in the playoffs. Certainly their front office knows they stand no chance of a title if they sign him. They'd be better off trying to get Dice-K, who had more playoff RBI's than Arod, to bat cleanup for them.

wouldnt it be a shame if this guy isnt in uniform in april due to this unmitigated greed and reckless act by his agent?

heh, heh, heh.....no. It would be absolutely fkn beautiful. But if that were to happen you could almost guarantee that there'd by cries of collusion. In fact, in this case, I'm all for collusion.

It's too bad RBIs aren't a team dependent stat....oh wait...

It's good to know so many people cheer for the names on the back of the jersey instead of the one on the front.

The names on the back of the jersey control the destiny of the name on the front of the jersey. Team success is an amalgamation of multiple factors, including both talent and personality among others.

But that's easier to see when you don't have a man crush on a guy's raw stats. You're like a perpetual size queen. Rather than re-examining all the intangibles that are needed to get the job done, you just go out and hunt the next biggest piece of junk you can find.

BTW, if RBI's are such team dependant dynamic, then why are they factored so heavily in an individual's stats? Maybe the NYY should have gotten the RBI title instead of The Fraud - I mean afterall, they're the one's who got on base. All he did was get lucky enough to hit after the other guys got the job done.

And it appears you favor personality above talent. I bet you loved Kevin Millar.

So what you're telling me is, if the price was right, you wouldn't add a guy who hits .300 and hits over 40 homers every single year because you feel his intangibles outweigh whatever positive statistical contributions he can provide.

Put simply, you're opposed to adding the best player in the major leagues because he doesn't have intangibles.

That's a very good question. That's why I prefer to use statistics like OPS because they are contingent on the individuals success alone. Also, I love the fact you insinuate DiceK is a better postseason hitter based off of two f***ing at bats.

Bravo, sir.
