I disagree. Jurrjens is a contact pitcher for the most part who was shut down due to shoulder soreness that lingered. The Gorkys kid is an all speed no power OFer who may or may not be the next Jason Tyner and he is at least 3 yrs away. They could have gotten more.

If there was any money left on the dockett for the sox, then no. The ERent contract is still in place and hence the sox would have to abide by the agreement. Now if ERent opted out (f*** you ARod), then the sox would be off the hook.

There's a good chance that Renteria won't approach what he did with the Braves in 2007, but that's because he's really not that good of a baseball player. I don't think it has anything to do with him being comfortable with the National League.

 

The guy has a career .757 OPS, and to boot, he's awful with the glove (not just with Boston, but with the Cardinals and Braves, as well.)

 

This trade is going to look bad, because Renteria is going to be about the same player he's been throughout the rest of his career.
