Winning this game would kill there confidence and could cause an easy sweep. So win it!!!

You're vastly underrating this Colorado team. There's a reason they won 21 of 22 games. They are a very good baseball team and will give the Sox fits.

That being said, I have to think the layoff hurt them some. Facing live pitching for the first time in over a week in the form of God will be tough.

I would really caution against discounting these Rockies.

That being said, I like the Sox in 6.

I liked the non-standard gamethread titles better.

Fair enough. I'll change it back.

The "starting-the-gamethread-a-day-early" thing seems to be working for us though, so I'm keeping that. :D

My mojo really has been amazing this postseason...

Heres the Roster. Tavarez should be on it and Gagne shouldn't. Not sure if Snyder should be on there either.

PITCHERS (11): Josh Beckett, Manny Delcarmen, Eric Gagne, Jon Lester, Javier Lopez, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Hideki Okajima, Jonathan Papelbon, Curt Schilling, Kyle Snyder, Mike Timlin.

CATCHERS (2): Doug Mirabelli, Jason Varitek.

INFIELDERS (7): Alex Cora, Eric Hinske, Mike Lowell, Julio Lugo, David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis.

OUTFIELDERS (5): Coco Crisp, J.D. Drew, Jacoby Ellsbury, Bobby Kielty, Manny Ramirez.

All I have to say is LETS GO RED SOX. And Beckett just do what you've been doing and I'm sure we'll end up winning this game. Gonna be a great game I know that much.

So you're guessing close games that the Sox win? Rockies put up a fight but can't quite get it done against the Sox?

Colorado IS a very, very good team and they are not to be underestimated. But teams don't win 21 of 22 games for a reason, they win that many for a number of reasons. That type of streak is absurd and the type of thing begs to be slowed. It might carry on, but those types of streaks are bound to be broken by a team as good as the Sox.

Yes. I don't think they have any pitchers that remotely scare me, outside of Francis and Corpas. Fuentes is VERY hittable and their 7th inning guy is LaTroy Hawkins. That should tell you something. As for their rotation, I feel Jiemenez is too wild and prone to the long ball. Yeah, he could spin a gem, but I think the Sox's patience will wear him down. Fogg/Cook are "meh". The guy who could be tough is Morales, being a rookie pitcher and left-handed. But that's not enough to convince me we won't hit him.

The layoff will hurt more than it will help. They have a good lineup...but is it better than ours?

C - Varitek/Torrealba - Push, maybe slight edge to Colorado.

1B - Youkilis/Helton - Right now, it'd be advantage Youkilis. Over the season, Helton. Call it a push.

2B - Pedroia/Matsui - Edge Pedroia.

SS - Tulowitzki/Lugo - Edge Tulo

3B - Lowell/Atkins - Edge Lowell b/c of Atkins' road split

RF - Drew/Hawpe - Right now, advantage Drew

CF - Ellsbury/Taveras - Push

LF - Ramirez/Holliday - Slight Edge to Ramirez

DH - Ortiz/Spilborghs - Huge edge to Ortiz

All in all, lots of similarities. I'd take our top 5 right now (Ortiz, Ramirez, Lowell, Youkilis, Pedroia) over their top 5 (Holliday, Helton, Tulowitzki, Hawpe, Atkins).

Whats the weather like there? Will the rain miss the game?

More weather

By Amalie Benjamin, Globe Staff

Just got off the phone with meteorologist Mark Rosenthal, and I wanted to report back on the potential weather implications of tonight.

He said that the forecast looks like occasional showers, with some downpour action. But, unlike when he looked at the forecast this morning, he thinks the game will be played tonight with the forecast becoming less threatening. There appears to be some rain around Western Pennsylvania and southwest of Washington that should be watched.

He predicted gametime temperatures of the low to mid 50s, chilly but not freezing.

(It's the World Series. Got to call in the experts for the big game...)

Vtec batting 6th ? and Drew 7th?

I guess - got it from boston.com. Could be because of the left handed pitcher and Vtec is much better hitter when he bats right handed?

That and it makes the bottom 1/3 stronger.
