Everyone chill and quit bitching. We have most likely lost this game... May as well say we have. But it's only Game 2. We're tied up in the series now. It's not like it's Game 7. God forbid we will get to Game 7.

2 on now with 1 out... something could happen.

I say DiceK game three' date=' Becket game 4, then Wake game 5.[/quote']

Schilling would be on normal rest for Game 5. No way does Wake see the field before Schilling.

Your right, I thought that games 3,4,5 were on consecutive nights. I guess they changed that this year with the new T.V. schedule.

Lets get em' on monday. DiceK is going to bring his sack with him this time out. Its 1-1 we have faced much worse prediciments then this.

Edit: This is where things get interesting. First time that this team has faced adversity at all this postseason.

If Wakefield starts game 4' date=' Beckett would pitch game 5, Schilling game 6, and Dice K game 7. That's scary.[/quote']

I agree. I think it makes the most sense I guess to go Beckett, Schilling, DiceK, Beckett.

I'm sure the Sox FO still thinks Nixon can't hit lefthanded pitching.

You must be the only one who thinks he can.

You gotta be kidding me...

Manager Terry Francona said he does not plan on starting Josh Beckett for Game 4, regardless of how the series plays out.

Beckett allowed two runs on four hits in six innings and left after just 80 pitches. The intent was believed to conserve the Red Sox ace so he could return on three days rest and pitch Game 4 on Tuesday. "(Eighty pitches) had nothing to do with it," Francona said. "He was in the back trying to stay loose, and the longer the inning went, I told him he’d had enough." Tim Wakefield will likely get the call for Game 4 vs Paul Byrd.

Let me be the first to remind Tito that Wakefield: a) Has an injured back B) had an 8.76 ERA in September and c) owns a 6.12 ERA in the postseason for his career

Don't get me wrong I think Wake is a fine pitcher to have for the regular season since he'll win more than half his games, but Beckett is coming off 'only' 80 pitches AND that gives you the option for him pitching in game 7 also.

I am glad tito won't pitch beckett in game 4. Look at how beckett has been going lately on regular rest, why mess with that... besides it's not like game 4 is a season ender if we lose.

Watching Gagne coming out of the pen was just painful

f*** me... Gagne' date=' Lopez and Lester combine to give up 7 runs in 0.2 of an inning[/quote']

They game up 7 runs in a 5th of an inning? Sure you didn't mean 2/3 or .75;)

I know he bears down at the plate better than most. The only way to hit lefthanded pitching is to face lefthanded pitching and he never really got that chance here. I'm not suggesting the Sox should have kept him, but it is a heavy dose of ironic justice for Trot.

We have to either win 4 games or lose 4, doesn't matter how we do it. I just think our best bet is to keep our guys on their regular rest where the results have been the best...if we bring Beckett back too quick and he has a bad outing, then we are we? Please don't give me the 2003 WS start argument, because that was game 6 and his last outing of the season in a game that could end it....not the same thing

That sample size is a little more than a season's worth of AB's.

Also, let's not forget that Wakefield has been injured and very ineffective. I don't think you throw away game 4. In my mind Beckett on short rest gives you a much better chance than Wakefield. Starting game 4 on short rest would not disturb the rest of the rotation. Schilling, Dice K and Beckett in game 7 would all be pitching on full rest.

Last night was a chance to put the series in a strangle hold and it was theirs for the taking. Too bad for the sox that the Guardians had more fight.

It becomes rather interesting now as the venue shifts and the sox throw one COLD pitcher in DiceK and one pitcher coming off injury in Wake while the Guardians throw 2 unspectacular pitchers of their own. It is kinda funny how coming in, guys like Carmona and Sabathia and Beckett were talked about as being the keys to the series. But literally, this series hangs in the balance on the starts by Byrd, Westbrook, Wake and a freezing DiceK.
