Gagne k's the side' date=' but it was not the least bit awe inspiring.[/quote']

He has the ability to make hitters swing and miss, but his time with Boston he has been allowing baserunners left and right. Tonight was a 7 run lead in the 9th inning and he ended up forcing the Sox to start warming up Papelbon and Okajima

Now, for a 7 game series, winning both games at home isnt the biggest objective. But winning both sure makes it easier knowing you come home again. If the sox win tomorrow and defeat the Guardians big two, then you can chalk this one up to Boston.

Was the second of those games a Sunday game at Yankee Stadium when David Justice and Paul O'Neil hit homers to win the game after we took the lead against Mo? If so, I was at that game with my Dad who was 80 at the time. We were in the RF grandstand, and those HRs came right towards us. I remeber thinking that they were just flyouts and they kept carrying and carrying. I couldn't believe it. My recollection is that O'neill was pisseed and flipped his bat away thinking he had flown out. Two cheap HRs.

Jacko, every single game is important whether it's home or away, game 1 or game 2.

I think the home factor gets magnified this season since all 4 teams who made it from the AL were stellar at home.

In a 5 game set, the home team needs to hold serve in the first 2 games because you could go to the away teams park and never come back. In the 7 game sets, splitting the first 2 as the home team is enough since there isnt a large chance that the lower seed takes all 3 at their place especially when your ace takes the mound in one of those three. Mission accomplished in the first part of this series, winning tomorrow is gravy, but it would certainly put a huge damper on things. The Guardians SP quality drops tremendously after Carmona.

Morning after party! God I love mornings like this.

Beckett is a man in complete control these days, even after putting yet another coat of polish on his reputation as the best big-game pitcher of his generation.

You could make the arugment that, in the past two years, only two front-of-the-rotation young starters have been made available -- and the Red Sox got both of them: Beckett, through a trade with the downsizing Marlins, and Daisuke Matsuzaka

At 27, Beckett is no longer a phenom, no longer the one who must carry the word "potential" like a ball-and-chain around his leg. He is a fully formed pitcher now, in control of everything about October.
