The playoffs are here! I'm too excited to put this thread off any longer so I'm just making it now even though I know it's a day early. For the first time since 1995, our Boston Red Sox are AL East Champs! Yeah bitches. So, let's bring another banner back to Boston! Haha, the game is on TBS tonight and it would be pretty awesome to hear Orsillo commentating. Now all we gotta do is somehow get Remy in that booth. GO SOX...win!

I can't wait' date=' the first legitmate shot at a title since 04. This is going to be a wild and exhausting ride. Let the fun begin!!!![/quote']

Considering you got swept out by the White Sox in 2005 and were in third place in the AL East last year, yeah, I'd say this is your first legitimate shot since then.

Schillingouttheks, you just jinxed your own team. When Beckett gets bombed on Wednesday, you are the SOLE REASON FOR YOUR TEAMS DEMISE.

Remember this.

So is this the first legit title shot for the Yanks since '03?

Every shot is always legit by the Yankees! They've NEVER had a bad postseason, don't you know this?! :D

Now let's raise some Hell in Fenway and knock out the Angels in 3.

I guess you can say that.

Actually, a legit title shot is one in which you make the playoffs, which makes your last legitimate chance in 2005.

Red Sox game on Wednesday

Yankees game on Thursday

Mets game in April

Wishing we lose won't make it happen:D

What I really dont like about this format is that the momentum swings wildly in the favor of the away team if they just take one on the road. While that is certainly the case in the 7 game sets, winning 3 in a row at home is a whole lot harder than taking 2. It is the trap we fell in for 2002 and last season. Split the first 2 games at home and then got taken care of away from home. If I were to advocate for fairness, it should be 1-1-1-1-1 in the first round, then 2-2-1-1-1 for all 7 game series.

Boston to Anaheim? That'd be a traveling NIGHTMARE. Especially under normal circumstances when there isn't a day off in between every single game. They've got to get these games in before it snows.

You guys need to win game 1. If you lose with Beckett' date=' you are in serious trouble. Serious.[/quote']

The same can be said for you, the Guardians, and the Angels.

Who knew winning game 1 of a 5 game series was so important?

With the disparity in the skill level between Beckett and the rest of your staff, and also playing at home, [the first game is always more important for the home team in the best of 5], it is more important for you guys than us to win game 1. We can go home with a split feeling better than you going to Anaheim with the same.

As for my book, I am now taking advance orders. I take Paypal. :harhar:

It is very easy to overanalyze potential scenarios, and many do...and are.

Obviously every win puts you closer to advancing, so it makes absolute sense that you'd want to win the first game of any series. We all know that.

Let's see what happens, then see who is in trouble..then see how they deal with it.

I head in WEEI that Garrett Anderson will not play. Time for Beckett to be the pitching stud he can be. I'm looking for big hits from Ortiz and yes, JD Drew.

September stats"
Pitcher|W-L|ERA|IP|K|K/9|BB|BB/9|WHIP|

Curt Schilling|1-2|3.16|25.2|15|5.26|2|0.70|1.05

Andy Pettite|3-2|5.86|35.1|21|5.34|12|3.06|1.78
And you can go home, where you play better, happy with a split? Really?
