I do realize that' date=' I was wary when it was announced the Pats were 24 point favorites over the Eagles. There are still concerns with the running game, my support of Maroney is either way with his early inability to stay on the field[/quote']

Your last statement is why I'm in favor of the Pats utilizing their high first-round pick instead of trading down. If they have the opportunity to grab Darren McFadden, I will be dumbfounded if they don't draft him. A backfield of McFadden/Maroney would be, um, orgasmic? It would be awesome to watch it mature, that much is for sure.

Brady is getting restless, Patriots shouldve gone for the 52 yarder. Pats tired defense going back out to try and keep the hot Eagles offense scoreless

Brady

1st half- 19 of 25 (204 yards)

2nd half- 6 of 18 (85 yards)

EDIT: More good news, Colvin and Gay out for the rest of the game. I was cursing at the TV when they were talking about how such a healthy team the Patriots are

See what happens when Vegas kicks out the biggest spread of all time! This shouldn't surprise us though, because Feeley seems to kill us no matter what team he's on. Tonight the problem is that the pats couldn't get any pressure on him, and he felt relaxed the whole game...maybe a little too confident considering the 2nd Asante INT. I understand why they called that play, considering they were aggressive all night but the smart thing to do would be run the clock down and have the sure fire FG if they can't knock it in....but not leaving Brady any time!

Hats off to the Eagles, they played a great game tonight!

The Eagles laid out the blueprint for how to beat the Pats tonight.

Spread them out, disguise coverages, blitz constantly. Put pressure on Brady. Odds are he'll beat you anyway, but you have no shot if you don't blitz.

Kudos to the Eagles for a hard fought game. If nothing else, they did the league a favor.

I agree that they laid out a good blueprint, but you have to have the horse's to do it. Great job by the Philly coaches, especially Johnson the DC...he had a great game plan. Philly has a phenomenal offensive line (BB said it's one of the best or the best) and they did a great job because the pats had trouble putting pressure on Feeley.

I think this makes the Pittsburg game more interesting. They blitz from all over the field. And on offense they have a good mix of what worked for Philly. Good O-line, good running attack, solid TE/WR corps, plus a mobile QB who is more accurate than Feely. What they don't do is use backs in the passing game like Philly uses Westbrook. NE did a good job containing him, so I suspect a lot of what Feely found open in the middle of the field early was due to scheme against Westbrook (early dumps in the flat to him were covered by LBs).

Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was shot in the groin at his Florida home early Monday morning, police said.

The Miami-Dade Police Department is currently investigating the incident. Taylor is currently undergoing treatment at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida, the Redskins said in a statement.

According to a report in the Miami Herald, police took a call early Monday that a homeowner had been shot in the leg.

Paramedics responded and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the groin. According to county property records obtained by the Herald, the residence, at 18050 Old Cutler Road, is listed to Taylor.

Taylor, 24, is in his fourth season with the Redskins. He leads the team with five interceptions but has missed the last two games with a knee injury.

Oh I agree. I do think some teams have the capabilities of doing so.

I've been kind of half-ass following the game on gamecast and I was just about to ask... is this game actually happening? 0-0 until 20 seconds left? And more importantly, how does Marty Booker make a kick return and get the tackle on the play? Silly Gamecast.

Pittsburgh really outdid itself with that field last night. Just when you thought Heinz field couldn't get any-worse they decide to put down new sod on top of the old sod less than 24hrs before the game during a monsoon

What should they have done then? They had high school games there on Friday and USF/Pitt there on Saturday. Should they have stayed with the torn up field?

Yes, stick with that field...all they did was make it worse! Back before the pats installed field-turf there where discussions everywhere on what they should do. The pats said the best they could do was to re-sod during their bye week to give the sox time to take (the bye week would give them 10-11 days after it was installed) They said they could not do it any shorter (and even the bye week was not really enough time) because the sox wouldn't take and it would be worse than it was before. Pittsburgh installed the turf Sunday night finishing at 9:30pm, giving the sod less than 24hrs before the game and during a monsoon. On top of that they didn't even 'have time' to take up the old sod, so they just put down new stuff.

Looks like now the NFL has stepped in (behind the scenes) and Pittsburgh will be installing field turf after the season!

So what you're saying is, in a f***ing monsoon, the field would have been better if they stuck with the chewed-up, old sod.

Gotcha.

It might've been. One thing about fieldturf, which I'm assuming is what they used, is that it does take a bit to get worn in and play like grass, which I think is what made the Patriots switching to it so surprising. Whether that played into anything... I don't know, I won't claim to be an expert on the matter or to have watched the game.

I'd have a hard time believing that the result of sticking with the original turf or grass or whatever it was would result in a worse game, though.
