Notre Dame has to go no better than 2-7 this year for Weis to equal Willingham's record in South Bend. At this point' date=' it looks very likely.[/quote']

Yeah, but Weis got lucky last year. What looked like a strong schedule ended up becoming something of an easy schedule. Notre Dame has to go 6-5 to equal Willingham's third season.

This team has Michigan State, Purdue, UCLA, and Boston College in the next four weeks. And then USC, Navy, and Air Force.

Can anybody say that Notre Dame is, for sure, better than any of those teams? I think at the very least, Michigan State, Purdue, UCLA, BC, and USC take 'em.

The one thing Weis has going for him is that a lot of these guys are Willingham's players. Weis has done a great job of recruiting but his time here looks an awful lot like Willingham's tenure. I don't care what Weis did his first year, Notre Dame never should've fired Willingham.

I love it. They beat GT much worse than the score suggests. They dominated them. BC should, and probably will, win the ACC this year. They still gotta get through VT and Clemson, but I think they're just a better football team than those other two.

I think they'll be a top 10 team this year. They probably wouldn't make the BCS bowl game if they went undefeated (despite the tough ACC schedule - no UNC or Duke), which is ********, but I think they'll be a very good team. I also think that the lack of fan support hurts them in deciding the two teams for the bowl games.

Doesn't the ACC have an auto bid into a BCS bowl game?

I think sotk's is referring to the BCS championship game. They'll need about 7 good teams to lose a game in order for them to leapfrog up to the top two spots. LSU plays Florida in a couple of weeks, and Ohio State, Penn State, and Wisonsin mix it up, WVU, Louisville, and Rutgers do the same. USC has to play Cal, and Oklahoma plays Texas. Somwhere along the way, they'll need a few losses from the winner of LSU/UF, USC/Cal, OK/Tex, and anyone who comes out of the Big 10 and Big East clean.

Ahhh... duh, sorry I'm an idiot. I'm still not used to the BCS Championship game thing.

They have a shot. Louisville's done for. It's so difficult to come out of the SEC undefeated, but Florida may be better than last year, and even then, I still like LSU over them at home, which says a lot about LSU. West Virginia has a legit shot, I haven't seen Rutgers play this year so I can't speak intelligently on whether or not they can beat WVU, but Louisville can, it remains to be seen if they will, though... that defense of theirs is terrible.

Problem is, I don't see Oklahoma losing and one of those Pac-10 teams should finish undefeated. At least Cal or USC since I'm still not a believer in Oregon.

It's so hard to say with college football. Let's say Florida loses in triple OT against LSU... I doubt they'd fall back behind Boston College.

You know what's scary about Florida? Their roster, I think I read, is about 70% underclassmen and they're as good as they are right now.

Well, I think Florida is better on offense, but I don't see their D anywhere close to last years D. The LSU/UF game will be a doozy.

That's true but it's as good as you can possibly expect it to be after losing, what, 9 defensive starters? Though I think LSU takes 'em and wins the SEC.

By the way, Jarvis Moss was an animal for the Broncos on Sunday... that guy's going to be fun to watch.

app state over michigan...app. state was 1-AA

although syracuse vs louisville is the biggest in terms of point spread.

In the aftermath of that whole Appalachian State thing -- I think Michigan might have lost or something -- many called the upset the greatest of all time. It may well be by certain definitions: Michigan is the only ranked team to ever drop a game to a I-AA foe and the first top 5 team to drop out of the top 25 entirely after an opening week loss. By any definition of the term "good," Appalachian State was not good. But the Apps were only a 22-23 point underdog, depending on who you listen to.

Syracuse, on the other hand...

The Orange was a 37-point underdog to the Cards, according to oddsmakers.

This would appear to be the biggest spread overcome in the history of college football. Other contenders:

In 1998, an 0-5 Temple team beat 5-0 Virginia Tech 28-24 as a 36-point underdog. That game is usually cited as the biggest upset of the past 10 years, point-spread wise.

A 1985 game in which Oregon State beat Washington 21-20 is often considered the largest point-spread upset. Oregon State was anywhere from a 36 to a 38-point 'dog, depending on which line you use.

that louisville team had 45 hung on them by east tennesee? or mid tennesee?

then kentucky beat them

Maybe Brian Brohm is having second thoughts about staying in school? Where did Michael Bush end up anyway?

he went in the 2nd round if im not mistaken

15 years ago that injury wouldve made him a free agent

progessive medicine in athletics continues to amaze me

quite frankly if youre going to be a 1st rounder i dont know how you stay in school unless youre family is independly wealthy....how does a coach tell a kid majoring in phys ed to get his education and leave 8 figures on the table till next year with a straight face?

if youre on the bubble and dont feel youre going on the 1st day then its different

but if youre pretty much assured youre going in the top 50 you gotta go get paid

The game's on now? Interesting.

South Florida will be fun to watch. Hopefully they get a chance to play in a big bowl game or something. I love watching teams like that.
