Sounds like the Sox have the best deal on the table, David Murphy and Kason Gabbard for Gagne, but its still up in the air whether or not Gagne will waive his no-trade to come to Boston.

if we can get Jermaine Dye and Eric Gagne while giving up Wily Mo Pena, Kason Gabbard, David Murphy and Craig Hansen, Ill be doing cartwheels

Olney reports its down to the Red Sox and Brewers. The Yankees, Cubs, and Mets are out.

f***. Gagne would have been perfect for the Yankees. Cashman should be fired now. Before the deadline.

ESPN's Jayson Stark says the Eric Gagne chase is down to the Red Sox and Brewers.

He'd have to waive his no-trade clause to go to Boston, whereas the Brewers don't have to worry about that. Speculation is that the Red Sox are offering Kason Gabbard and David Murphy. The Brewers could part with Tony Gwynn Jr. and a pitcher. Both of those outfielders project as long-term reserves, but they could get a chance to start in center if acquired by Texas.

The Red Sox are on the verge of winning the Eric Gagne sweepstakes, pending his approval and a review of his medical records, according to major-league sources.

Gagne must waive his no-trade clause to Boston for the deal to be completed. It is possible the Red Sox will allow him to share the closer's role with Jonathan Papelbon.

The Rangers had discussed trading Gagne to the Mets, Yankees and Brewers. He could have been sent to each of those teams without his permission.

Gagne could reject the deal because of his desire to remain a closer with the Rangers rather than share the role with Papelbon or become his setup man.

The Red Sox also could attempt to persuade him to waive his no-trade protection by guaranteeing all or part of his remaining $3.65 million in potential bonuses for games finished.

Gagne Likely Headed to Boston

Agreed. Also, if both of these deals happen, kudos to Theo and co. for sticking to their guns and not dealing Buch, Ellsbury and MDC.

Add Buster Olney to the list of top insiders confirming Gagne to the Sox is imminent

Just heard that, Theo's on his game this year.

Add Jermaine Dye and Gagne while putting Ortiz on the DL to have surgery and get healthy for October? Pretty good deadline. Now we just have to actually get Dye.

this probably means MDC is expendable in a Dye trade

I'd rather keep MDC with Timlin's and Donnelly's injury woes

They agreed on the players, gabbard, and murphy. Now we got to deal with f*** face Boras. According to Baseball Tonight. And yes they also called Boras a f*** face.
