I know his mechanics looked all wack for a while there but we really cant be so quick to pull the trigger to go to Tavarez. He settled down and got outs, let him work through stuff like this even if it doesn't look so good. Hes at 77 pitches he can pitch at least one more.

Seriously. Even if he gave up a grand slam right there it's the right move to leave him in for that situation. My parents are annoying me with their "get him out of there!" s*** and I keep telling them that they have to leave him in there to get through it considering it was his first real big jam of the night. And then when he gets the K, I say "and that's why you leave him in there" and they say "I love how you know this after the fact it happened." Sigh. I said leave him in the whole f***ing time. Whatever.

We let Dice K do it....I see no reason why Lester shouldn't be allowed to work through it

calm down guys lets not all jump ship on him

he got out of the inning, but he should not be sent out for another one. He isnt locating and his stuff looks BAD. If he didnt get help from Guttierez and Sizemore, he'd be handing the pen a deficit right now. His fastball hit 90 once but was sitting 86-87 and his curveball lacked bite and location. The sox right now have a kid whose energy level must be near zero, because if the reports were true about 2 months ago of this kid hitting 97 mph consistently, then something is awry. He is pitching like a guy with dead arm, but I have a feeling his arm is just fine. This is the toll that chemo can take on you and there really isnt much record in terms of a top line athlete returning this quickly from cancer. And in the ultimate game of stamina, it seems to have caught up with him. If I were Tito, I'd hand the ball to Tavarez and try to win the game. Then do the right thing and convince Theo that the kid just isnt ready and send him back down. He needs a full, non-poisoned (chemo is poison) offseason and time to fully recover before he can be leaned on. I feel bad for the kid, and I wish him the best. But right now we are seeing a shell of what he can be and that isnt right by him, first of all. I dont care if it is right by the sox since I hate them, but do right by this kid. His guts and some help from the opposition kept him from getting embarassed out there. Hopefully the sox dont give him anymore chances for now.

I dont think he hits 97, Ive heard he hits mid-90's and operates in the low 90's and in that sense his velocity is down and he probaly is tired, but he can still be effective.

and he should have been...its just lazy show boating crap

Agreed. It's ridiculous. Is it really that hard to just run hard out of the box until you know it's in the stands? Come on.

2 quick outs from Lester. Good to see. Sit down Hafner and get in line for a win, Lester!

Come on, Jacko... nobody "bailed him out". Sizemore chased the same pitch that Lester's been getting people on all night for that K to end the inning. Looked pretty damn good against the heart of the lineup that inning. You're right... he's got nothing...

Way to finish up. That's gotta be his last inning. In line for a W!

I don't know....87 pitches I would let him go until he gets in trouble again or gets up to 100-110. Everyone has that tough inning....maybe he doesn't run into another one of those for two more innings.

No, not every pitcher would have a tough inning. Face it, this is a clear sign the Yankees will win the East. Purplemonkeydishwasher.

What? I don't get it.:dunno:

You haven't been here enough to know that ORS likes to bend Jacko over when he's wrong, lol.

Basically, Jacko said that Lester shouldn't go out for another inning after his struggles in the 4th. Lester then went back out for the 5th and got the 3 outs quickly.

I didn't realize his pitch count was at 87. I thought it was a lot more. I agree that they should let him at least start the 6th depending onto how much trouble he runs into.
