f*** the rules. f*** my fancy gamethread. Hit, field, throw, catch, and pitch the ball and you'll win the goddamn game. It's that f***ing simple. NOW DO IT GODDAMN IT. SHOW ME SOMETHING.

Tavarez vs. Perez

Ever since the Yankees took that early June series against us, we've been playing like absolute horse s***. A fire needs to be lit under this team's ass. I'm looking at you, Theo.

Bitch in here about July 17th's game. I'm already too pissed to go back into the real gamethread for that game.

EDIT: And oh, yeah, I stole the first few lines from Kilo. Thanks.

All we need now is an injury to Tek and the team will spiral out of control. We added one starter since last year and one reliever and we substituted an overpaid underperforming Drew for an over the hill Nixon.

Countdown to getting this sick taste (Sox get blown out, Yanks win; lead down to 8 games) out of our mouths: 19 hours and 45 minutes. If we lose tomorrow... God... let's just win. Please.

or 19+ hours to watching the royAAAls take a series in Fenway. Tavarez has been pitching like dogshit lately and Odalis is a soft tossing lefty.

 I probably could have used this. Too bad you couldn't have actually slapped me. Luckily, I feel better.

But I'm serious about A-Rod in Boston. Probably won't happen, but I would love to see it.

eh...I believe if we rewound history we'd find similar hysterical histrionics from July of 04" and 03" and 98" and 72' and 44". Up in NOVA at the present and Mike O'Meara of Don and Mike fame is an unrepentant Sox fan. He whines about the state of the team and he admits it's his god given right to whine. Regardless of anything. We are a whiney fan base. I admit this readily.

Win the World Series. Whine. Sure, but we won't resign Pedro. Impending doom always.

Like I know for instance that we are doomed to lose the AL East by two games. I'll be taunted by MWID "baseball fans" saying things like...you guys choked w/ a 15 game lead. It's just a fact. You prepare for failure and hope for the improbable in your dreams. So, when the magic happens you aren't prepared. They didn't place Field of Dreams in Yankee Stadium. No romance there and Moonlight Graham haunts the Fens.

I do not want Alex Rodriguez playing for my team if he hits 90 HR's and 300 RBI's per year and for the rest of his days hit's over .400. I'll take 100 Dustins over that A-hole. I loved the 04' team. I'll wait another 30 to have a real team who give a s***. No mercenary's need apply. Sorry if this offends but this ain't the Damn Yankees and I'm not willing to sell my soul,

That's cute, but you already did when you bought Matsuzaka, Drew, Lugo, et al. You didn't get Ramirez because of your team's character, you got him because you gave him $189 million. If your rationalization of the underdog helps you sleep at night, whatever. But don't go talking about the romanticism of the gritty underdog, because the Red Sox do not qualify in the least.

At some point you're going to have to accept that you support a big market team, that builds on talent and production and not hustle and grit. If you want to be in on a real team fighting for respect and recognition, you should have started rooting for the Tigers or Brewers a few years ago, or start supporting the Devil Rays or Pirates now. Otherwise, quit the storybook crap and live in the real world here. You support the team that ranks 2nd of 30 in payroll, and is one of the top markets in baseball. The Red Sox will always be buying the best talent they can to fill whatever hole they have, end of story. If there is a hole at third base, you bet your ass they'll take a run at the best player in the game who plays that positon.

I agree. The sox team is already made up of a ton of mercenaries, moreso than the yankees. And the infiltration of mercenaries this season especially has been 33% successful with DMats being the only good one.

I support a big market team and am proud of it! With all the losing I had to go threw when I was a kid between the Pats and Sox, i'm glad now that they spend money and are competitive, thats about as much as I can ask for from them.

The yanks have an easier July, then it gets tougher in august. It would be nice to have a 10 game lead come august! As much as I know I will get flamed for it, I hope they bring back Millar as a bench guy. I know it's unlikely, but at least he wouldn't let this team (attitude wise) become stagnant.....this team has the talent, but they have an attitude problem

Millar would boost the morale of the club.

Agreed. I don't care if my team spends and spends and spends. This is why I don't give a s*** about payroll. If your team can flex its financial muscles, then DO IT. The Sox should be doing more of it, IMO. I don't root for the type of people that the players are. I root for the uniform and if someone's wearing the uniform, I'm rooting for them.

Besides, I've had to endure enough s***** seasons/heartbreaks between the Sox and Pats. Sox fans are sure as hell as entitled as anyone to a team that pays to put a winner on the field. It's the least the Sox FO can do. After all, we do pay the highest ticket prices in baseball.

You and I see eye to eye on all of this.

Jerry on the lack of clutch hitting

Well teams go through streaks like this. With this lineup I see it as temporarily.

Ok Jerry... since June 1st they are batting a combined .234 with RISP. If its a temporary streak, it wouldnt be lasting for a month and a half. He's been saying the exact same thing since then, this team needs a fire lit up their asses to actually start gelling

Overall, they've been hitting .268 with RISP. So, they were hitting the s*** out of the ball in April and May.

This is a temporary streak. Eventually, the luck will normalize.

Nice catch from Manny, but more importantly a 0 from Hoolian.

OT, but does anyone else absolutely LOVE that Timbaland song in that McDonald's commercial? I mean it's an awful song, but I love it.
