good to see the dodger cheerleaders get excited about a fox story generated out of los angeles and supported by a guy on this forum who thinks wily mo pena is an allstar and jd drew is a gamer who will thrive in boston.

hows wily mo's vorp lookin these days crespo??

f***ing idiot

do you pay attention to mlb rosters??

seriously

the nl is the f***ing joke and the nl west is the punch line.

your power# analogy is awesome dude

cincinatti leads baseball in homeruns last i looked.

i believe they are last in scoring?

hows that for research.

again your #s are very very comical and mean absolutley nothing.

research??

my god are you this f***ing stupid ??

heres some research for all you national league apologists.

rudy seanez is 6-1 with an era of 3.25 pitching in the nl west

did you read this yet??

jc romero has an era of 2.77 in the power hitting national league

cla meredith??

has a 2.73 in his career, remove the time he spent in boston and he looks like saito

do you understand what this means or are we now of the mindset that rudy seanez is a hoss and we waived him in error??

randy johnson beat the yankees out of 35M due to his success in the national league west

raja clemens stole 20M from the yanks based on his nl success

the above 2 men were cy material into their 40s pitching in the B league but are no better than #4s in al east

but dont let this stop you from using national league stats sonny.

(im still chuckling over the power# graph you used crespo, alomost as good as the wily mo graph you used that showed how good he'd be if he played every on odd days of the month against lefthanded bats when the temp hits 80.

anyways lets get back to the lites out nl pitching.

think gred maddox or tommy glavine would be effective in the american league?

was that aaron sele who took the loss for the mets last nite??

the mets have 9 pitchers with eras under 4

9

john maine is 10-5 with an era under 3 for the mets

odalis perez 3.13

86 year old orlando hernandez has a 2.96 era

none of the above would make an al roster with the possible exception of maine who didnt exactly dazzle anyone when he was in baltimore but put him in the B league and look out.

2 years in baltimore (since we're onto small sampling)

era of 9.82 and 6.80

2 years in ny

era of 3.60 and this year 3.07

how many al stiffs went to the nl and had success?

i have

as for the dodgers

i think jon broxton is a legit closer and will have this job sooner than later.

chris young is great and has a .69 era at home

he seems to be the most dominant of the nl pitchers ive seen this summer

these #s are insignificant and really mean nothing in the big boy show and time and time again we see what happens to these guys in the playoffs.

if you really think saito is better than paplebon you shouldnt be on a baseball forum.

if you think these #s translate into american league success you are out of your f***ing minds.

The NL is a joke. The better teams are in the AL. Look at interleague. 137-115 in favor of the AL and that is the closest it has been in years. The AL continually wipes the floor with the NL every single yr yet some people have trouble agreeing that it is a different and inferior league.

AL NL

1997 97 117

1998 114 110

1999 116 135

2000 136 115

2001 132 120

2002 123 129

2003 115 137

2004 126 125

2005 136 116

2006 154 98

2007 137 115

Total: 1387 - 1317

The disparity is just truly shocking indeed.

EDIT: One more thing

Greg Maddux??? 19-9 in interleague play

Posted
over the last 3 seasons' date=' the AL is winning 56% of the games and is 98 games over .500. Is that enough for you?[/quote']

When someone writes things like "continually wipes the floor with" and "every single year" I felt I needed to inject a little truth to the discussion. No one will come one here, that I know, and try to argue that the NL is tougher than the AL at the moment.

EDIT: It also helps the AL that there are more interleague games played while they have better teams. There were fewer games played when the NL was a better league. Obviously

Or the guy who thinks Bronson Arroyo is worth 10 wins above average, or Dice-K would have an ERA north of five if he pitched in Cincy.

Oh, how about the guy who thinks Saito's ERA will be worse than Chris Ray's if he moves to the AL?

The guy who thinks that the AL has more HR's then the NL?

Oh, you think guys are clutch when they hit .228 in clutch situations.

Dude, if you did any research, you'd see that Pena is a remarkably better player when he starts. Look at players similar to Pena. How do they hit in pinch hitting/start once in awhile situations?

Show me where I endorsed the J.D. Drew signing. I don't like giving left handed hitters long term contracts, in a ballpark that suffocates power. The only thing I'm guilty of is, believing Drew will hit closer to .280, then to .220.

hows wily mo's vorp lookin these days crespo??

f***ing idiot

I don't know. Is he playing everyday in order to make that judgment?

do you pay attention to mlb rosters??

Do you? You thought Scott Spiezio was on the Yankees, and was an integral part of their championship run.

This is stupid. You bring up success of three relief pitchers, and two pitchers who made the switch into their 40's. Do you ever look at anything in a macro sense? As of right now, the average ERA's in 2007 are:

AL - 4.43

NL - 4.30

A difference of 0.13. Not even close to the difference you pronounce.

It gets even smaller.

2006:

AL - 4.56

NL - 4.49

2005:

AL - 4.35

NL - 4.22

(im still chuckling over the power# graph you used crespo, alomost as good as the wily mo graph you used that showed how good he'd be if he played every on odd days of the month against lefthanded bats when the temp hits 80.

I'm still waiting for you to give me anything useful.

Again, this is very stupid. You cherry pick the stats of a few pitchers and claim that there is a massive gap in the runs being scored. There isn't. Get over it.

A guy with chronic elbow problems, gets surgery, responds well to it, and performs at his talent level. Did you watch Carpenter pitch in 2004? He would have dominated both leagues.

i think jon broxton is a legit closer and will have this job sooner than later.

Oh, I get it. he dont lok liek a big lguer he must b one of dem stat guis de be talkin bout.

Despite having nearly .50 points of WHIP on Broxton, Saito is not a legit closer. I guess it's because he's Asian.

chris young is great and has a .69 era at home

he seems to be the most dominant of the nl pitchers ive seen this summer

these #s are insignificant and really mean nothing in the big boy show and time and time again we see what happens to these guys in the playoffs.

I'll ignore the fact that it's stupid to base your findings on 7 games, but:

World Series RS/RA - (last 7 WS)

NL - 162/150

AL - 150/162

In the big boy show, doesn't look like these NL pitchers are imploding at the rate you say.

if you really think saito is better than paplebon you shouldnt be on a baseball forum.

if you think these #s translate into american league success you are out of your f***ing minds.

Of course, you ignore the part about the debate being who is better RIGHT NOW.

I'll give Saito an additonal 0.13 ERA points for pitching in the NL.

ERA - 1.72

ERA - 1.82

Still, Saito.

Both pitchers have been dominant, but Saito's got an edge.

crespo

Both are at the top of their profession. Both also have competition from Putz, Hoffman, etc. for the totally subjective title of "best closer".

Yeah, the leagues are different, each closer's situation is different, manager's use of the closers are different, their ages are different, blah, blah, blah. All that matters is the here and now...and right here and now I'm pretty happy the Sox have Papelbon.

I couldn't care f***ing less what Saito does or doesn't do for LA...unless the Sox are playing them at some point.

the difference in ERA between leagues isnt meaningful if the worse pitching is in the NL. If we swapped the NL pitchers and the AL pitchers, I'd assume the disparity will show. I think the point is, 7 of the top 10 spending teams are in the AL. Players follow the money. Hence, the better offense and pitching will be where the big spenders are.

Really, did backing up the brinks truck to Lugo, Drew, Clemens, Abreu, Pavano, Clement, and Giambi make the AL a stronger league? Just because the teams are willing to spend more money does not make the league better. You can filed a team with those players and you would be hard pressed to win any division in baseball.
