I was at a friend's house or else I would've been all over this thread...

A few of my thoughts, if I may...

Great trade for the Celtics, and anyone who says otherwise (every caller on EEI) obviously has not seen Ray Allen play nearly enough. Allen compliments Pierce nicely as Allen is one of the purest shooters in the game and has one of the smoothest offensive moves I've seen. Allen will step right in and be an offensive weapon and add to pierce and Jefferson, who should be a solid offensive scorer down low.

Also, a great trade for the Knicks...Zeke just baptised Portland on that one. Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry will be a pair of big bangers to reckon with and if healthy and if on top of their game, they will make for some scary twin towers on both sides of the ball.

Jared Dudley went waaaaaay too early. No chance in hell will his game translate to the NBA.

I like this added bonus of the #35 pick. It should be interesting to see what Ainge does with these two picks. He's a second round magician.

Pruitt, Davis, McRoberts, Koponen, Green, Fazekas, Lasme, Gasol and Dowdell

guys the Celtics need to look at 32 and 35

Thank you, im sick of hearing everyone complain about the trade. Allen will fit very well here, and IMO is more valuable then a jeff green.

and yea, Ainge is great making picks in the late first round/2nd rounds. Get a big man here and a PG and we'll be all set.

damnit i wanted Koponen, guy has huge upside and i think steve nash potential

still have Pruitt, Davis, McRoberts, Green, Fazekas, Lasme, Sessions, Gasol and Dowdell on the board

alright Pruitts a good choice, i think he can fill the whole Delonte left being traded today.

Now just take a big man at 35...

Knicks got a steal of a trade. We got rid of Francis' contract and upgraded Frye to Randolph. Curry and Randolph with Lee as the 6th man up front is damn good. Great job Zeke.

I really don't like the Celts move for Allen. They are afraid of rebuilding despite having the number 5 pick in a DEEP draft. They could have moved Pierce and Jefferson and started over clean. Allen is a great pickup if you are one player away from contending. This makes the Celtics a possible 8 seed. This is making a move to hope for 2 more home games in the playoffs.

And now they draft a 3 point shooter in the 2nd round? Really, what sense does that make?

i can see it now, glen davis at the 4 and perkins at the 5 will be our 550 big man lineup both wigh about 280

good pick though

I don't like this deal as much as you goons do.

Jeff Green has the potential to be great, and Delonte was an awesome role player.

Allen has a massive contract and that severely hampers any chance at signing anyone for anything more than the MLE, so basically what we see is what we're gonna get at this point.

This is basically back to the good ole days of Pierce and Toine (Allen) chucking up shots, only big difference is we got a hungry man to feed down low in Jefferson, a point guard who can do more than Kenny Anderson ever dreamed of doing on the defensive end (mind you Andersons offensive talent was way superior to what Rondos is), a kid in Allen who basically got chucked to the bench (and I think he still needs minutes, best defender on the team) because he hurt himself, and a kid who needs minutes in Green.

Rondo/Pruitt

Allen/Allen

Pierce/Gerald

Gomes/Davis/Scal

Al/Perk/Powe

thats a pretty nice team barring Rondo running the point like we all hope he will, Al continuing to get better than he was at the end of last year, and Allen and Pierce not pissing and moaning about touches.

Interested to see what happens with this roster.

All I have to say is we still need to use our trading chips in Ratliff and Telfair. If we were to swing Gomes or Davis away in a deal to net someone else with those two other guys I won't complan.

You're an idiot. Why would they have traded Pierce AND Big Al to start over..that doesn't make any sense. You obviously haven't seen enough of Ray Allen as he is one of the best offensive players this league has to offer and his game isn't limited to 3 point shooting. They could have been at least an 8th seed if they had been healthy last season and this move pushed them way beyod that mark' date=' in my opinion, if the 3 main players can play at their usual levels and stay healthy.[/quote']

Yes, the only reason they had the second worst record in the NBA playing in the East was injuries.

I hate that teams pussyfoot around rebuilding. Just f***ing blow it up and start over. Your vision failed, try again. They're throwing together a half-assed quick fix.

The Celtics are not a quick fix team, they were awful last year.

I definitely wouldn't be surprised to see Ainge try to pick up one more 2nd round selection if Aaron Gray slips a little bit more, similarly to when they picked one up to draft Powe last year. I think I remember Ainge scouting Pitt at times during the season and this team seriously lacks height.

Go look up the Celtics record when Pierce was injured and come back to me. Then tell me that he didn't compltely hold the team on his shoulders and bringing in a huge offensive addition won't help.

You've yet to answer my question...WHY THE HELL WOULD THE CELTICS TRADE AL JEFFERSON TO REBUILD?

portland has had a good draft

Francis/Jack/Koponen

Roy/Fernandez/Webster

Miles/Outlaw/Udoku

Aldridge/McRoberts/Lafrentz

Oden/Frye/Przybilla

they have a lot of depth there

me to, and with Dowdell, Gasol, Sessions, Gray and Green left, wouldnt be surprised at all if he made a move to get one of them

yes' date=' for brandon wright[/quote']

I wouldn't say the trade was awful.

Richardson is fairly young, fills a need at the two guard, and can play right now. Wright's body doesn't project. I don't see him putting on a lot of weight on that frame.

I felt a bit better about the trade after I saw that we got the 35th pick in addition to Ray Allen. Again, I don't like giving up the 5th pick in as deep of a draft as this was, but whatever. It just doesn't make sense to me to give that up when you know perfectly well that Ray Allen won't be around when this team starts to click. The Celtics are better this year, sure, but they're not even close to contending... why bring in Allen at 32-years-old?

Our defense is a complete liability. I hated the Pruitt pick when it happened because he was another f***ing guard. I wouldn't have minded it at 35, and now that we have Big Baby Davis anyway it doesn't look so bad, but during picks 33 and 34 I was really starting to wonder if we were ever going to draft a big man. Thankfully, they did.

I still would have kept the 5th pick though. The only trade I wouldn't have minded would be if we were able to keep Jefferson while getting Marion like in one of the rumored deals. Guess not.
