Per WEEI, Tito has come around to the notion that Cora deserves more playing time until Lugo gets his s*** in gear. Though Ive heard Lugo might get the start today because a lefty is starting

Good Luck to Dice -K . I would really like to see his walks come down before the allstar break.

Will Lugo be on the bench tonight?

Dice-K has gotta be looking for revenge after his last start against the M's...

Hopefully with this jobber on the mound, our offense can give him a legitimate shot to win unlike when King Felix made us his bitch.

Keep the walks down and trust Tek...we should be able to get a W here.

Tito said on WEEI earlier today that Lugo will start at short with Ceranno in right....although expect Drew to make a late inning appearance after the lefty has left the game.

WTF. How can Tito continue to put trash on the lineup. Cut Lugo NOW. Eat his contract and cut his ass. Some fan could be curtious enough to run his ass over when they see him waking down the street. That way Tito would have no choice but to put him on the DL.

I know' date=' thats the problem.[/quote']

Typical reaction..."cut him". The sox won't cut him and eat that contract. He's been terrible lately, but odds are he will return to his career numbers. (hopefully sooner than later) Most of the same people that are screaming to cut him now were screaming to send Pedroia back to AAA earlier this year. Let's give him some time to turn it around while platooning Cora there. We have the lead and can afford to try and fix it instead of making snap decisions.

Only in New York or Boston can people call for someone to be cut while their team is the best in the league. I'm all for calling him out on his bad performance, but cutting him is a terrible idea. We're paying him $9M/year to play SS for us, and we can afford to let him try to fix it because of the lead we have.

76 games isn't enough time? We are almost half-way through the season and Lugo has been getting horribly worse. It's one thing to stick with a guy, waiting for him to break through, it's another to let him play after a HORRIBLE first half, while continuing to get worse. He is getting worse, hard to believe, but he is. He hasn't ever been a great player, so it is looking like he just can't cut it in the pressure cooker that is Boston. Cut your loses and move on ... without Lugo.

1/2 way through the season, yes. However it is only 1/8 through Lugo's contract. He can't get worse than he is now, so we have to keep him-at least for now. Nobody wants to trade for him, and we can't just flat out cut him.

Even though the Sox are facing a pitcher who has struggled in the early going (8.20 ERA)... this guy is still a soft tossing lefty, of course the one type of starter the Sox bats hate seeing out there. Look no further than Lenny DiNardo
