Here we go Taverez let's make it 12 game lead. AL east champs here we come. Tav has been looking great lately he's really turning out to be good as our number 5.

JT's been pitching better than a #5..He's good enough to be some teams #3. I bet he'll come out tonight and throw a gem.

Let's get this series started off on the right foot, Sox. Please no jet lag, like the last west coast road trip. Hopefully Jeremy Guthrie will continue pitching well for the O's tonight with the Yankees in town, also (4-1, 2.42 ERA).

Just win!

MTB, right!!!! Just win. I remember how some here were downgrading a couple of pitchers we were going to face in Oakland and Colorado and we would up with a big "L" for our efforts. Just outpitch, outhit and outscore them PERIOD and pick up that extra half-game on the Yankees. One good thing; we will be able to put our nine best hitters on that field if Francona can resist putting Lugo's name on that lineup card. Next to the Dodgers' Wilson Betemit, he is probably right now the worst looking hitter in baseball.

Hmm, as much as we all hate Betemit, his number are pretty close to Drew's number, and he has had 100 less AB.

Betemit

HR 7 | RBI 19 | OBP .329 | SLG .408

Drew

HR 6 | RBI 30 | OBP .348 | SLG .387

Yea leave BA out of this.

Lugo is the worst hitter right now in baseball. He has the Lowest AVG and OBP of ANY starter in the majors. Pretty bad...

That's crazy man. And I thought Pierre was a bad signing. I need Taverez to get the W for my fantasy team tonight. Taking a risk on him this week, two starts.

Drew is up to near 250 and is starting to hit consistently again and we feel he is going to be a very productive hitter for us the rest of the year. Are you that confident in Betemit? I needed someone to compare with Lugo and he was the first player that came to mind.

Drew got off to a fast start and then inexplicably slumped. I believe he is going to be very solid for us the rest of the year. You're glad he's gone from the Dodgers; I'm happy he is on our team so we both got our wishes.

Only if you want him at DB. We'll throw in spell ckeck and grammar check programs. Sorry, we can't do anything about the IQ level.

You got to be kidding me... Even in weaver's best years, the Sox have handled him with ease

His last 2 starts was a complete game shutout of the Pirates (2nd least runs scored in NL) and a win against the Cubs. In 6 innings he did allow just 3 runs, but those were coming off of 10 Hits

Let's not underestimate Weaver or any other pitcher. I heard earlier in the month about how we were going to feast on DiNardo and Fogg and we got our lunch eaten. We take Weaver and every pitcher we face seriously. We don't want to go through what we went through a couple of weeks ago. Besides, we have to keep the good vibes coming that Julian is going to be on his game again tonight.

Freddie, I hate to break it to you, but your vibes have nothing to do with how Taverez is gonna pitch.

The bit about Weaver was a joke. His ERA is down from infinity to ~8.5.

Weaver is still supposed to be a better pitcher than Fogg or DiNardo. In fact, DiNardo absolutely sucked for the Red Sox last year, but since you're not up to speed on the Red Sox it might interest you to know that they have a terrible habit of letting weak pitchers off the hook. This has happened time and again over the past few seasons. As for the vibes you mention, when Taverez pitches for us all Red Sox fans have to think positively for their own mental well-being because we never know what gives with the guy.

Weaver also has won his last two games so that is no joke to any of us. Thanks, though, for the heads-up, so I owe you one and here goes.

This date in Dodger history-----June 25th, 1968.....Bobby Bonds (father of four year old Barry) hits a grand slam in his first major league game as the Giants rumble, 8-0 in the opener of a three game series at Candlestick Park. Bad news? I'll have better news for you tomorrow about the 26th.

NESN... Tito says Lugo's #s dont look bad if the team is doing well :what:

Another verbal gem from our esteemed manager. I hate going with my wife to Angels games and seeing how a real manager runs his team.

Are the Angels 11 games in 1st place too? Good for them.

Tito's right.

Only in the Nation can fans harp on one player struggling badly when the team as a whole is doing so well.
