Some of those picks are kind of out there...Kenny Lofton? Michael Barett? Craig Biggio?

Are you aware that Andruw Jones is batting .198?

I'm just gonna do my whole team:

AL:

C-Jorge Posada-He's been outstanding this year, with a .339 AVG, .945 OPS and 32.0 VORP.

Backup C-Victor Martinez-One of the best young catchers in the game, and having another exceptional season.

1B-David Ortiz-I really don't think there's much competition here.

Backup 1B-Carlos Pena-The Northeastern kid has really come into his own this year with Tampa Bay.

2B-Brian Roberts-Hitting .314, stolen 23 bases, .813 OPS.

Backup 2B-BJ Upton-Agree with Thumper here. He's been raking so far.

SS-Derek Jeter-Another great season.

Backup SS-Orlando Cabrera-I'm so glad we got rid of him. .340 average, just a great year.

3B-Alex Rodriguez-Enough said.

Backup 3B-Troy Glaus-He's a way's away from Rod, but he still has an OPS over .900

OF1-Magglio Ordonez-MVP type season like Rodriguez.

OF2-Ichiro Suzuki-Having another very good year. .358 average.

OF3-Vladimir Guerrero-Tearing the ball this year.

Backup OF-Grady Sizemore-22 steals, 12 homers, 62 runs.

Backup OF-Curtis Granderson-13 f***ing triples.

Backup OF-Torii Hunter-I have 3 centerfielders in my backups, but they're all deserving. Hunter is having a very nice contract year.

My lineup:

Suzuki

Jeter

Rodriguez

Ordonez

Guerrero

Ortiz

Posada

Roberts

SP

NL next.

Here's my National League hitters (I'll do both league's pitchers later):

C-Russell Martin-How does he have 12 steals? Anyways, the NL catching class is pretty weak. Martin has had a good year though.

Backup C-Bengie Molina-After Martin, the NL catching class is terrible. Molina has been decent this year.

1B-Prince Fielder-Pounding the ball.

Backup 1B-Derrek Lee-.354 average. Whiffed at Chris Young though.

2B-Chase Utley-Best 2B in baseball producing again.

Backup 2B-Orlando Hudson-I love the O Dawg.

3B-Miguel Cabrera-Uhh yeah. He's ridiculous.

Backup 3B-Chipper Jones-Was hurt for a bit, still has very good numbers.

SS-Jose Reyes-38 steals???

Backup SS-Hanley Ramirez-He also could have been our SS.

OF1-Matt Holliday-Hitting .358, 1.008 OPS.

OF2-Barry Bonds-Amidst all of the controversy, is actually having a good year. Can't have an ASG in SF without Barry.

OF3-Aaron Rowand-When not hurting himself, he is hitting .315 with 10 HR and 39 RBI.

Backup OF-Eric Byrnes-Same as Rowand, but hitting .318, .884 OPS, 14 SB.

Backup OF-Hunter Pence-The rook is producing, .348 AVG, OPS over .950.

Backup OF-Ken Griffey Jr.-21 homers, just passed Mark McGwire.

My lineup:

Reyes

Utley

Cabrera

Holliday

Fielder

Bonds

Martin

Rowand

The American League Pitchers:

SP-Dan Haren-He's dominating this year. 1.78 ERA. The .218 BABIP tells me the numbers will definitely get worse, but that's not the point of the all star game.

Other starters:

Johan Santana-9.35 K/9, along with a 2.91 ERA.

Josh Beckett-He dominated today, and he has been the ace of the staff. On pace for 22 wins.

Jeremy Guthrie-The kid that dominated us on the Mother's Day miracle has been no fluke, with a 2.42 ERA and 6.50 H/9

Justin Verlander-No sophomore slump for this ace.

John Lackey-2.96 ERA, 26.8 VORP.

James Shields-VERY few walks, only 1.57 BB/9. 7.37 K/9 and a 3.64 ERA.

CC Sabathia-3.34 ERA, 7.94 K/9, already 100 K.

Relievers:

JJ Putz-1.07 ERA, .62 WHIP, 21 saves. Filth.

Jonathan Papelbon-Has had some walk issues, but still another great year.

Francisco Rodriguez-AL leader in saves, with a 2.23 ERA.

National League Pitchers:

SP-Jake Peavy-Wasn't great Sunday but still having a great year.

Other starters:

Brad Penny-2.12 ERA, just behind Peavy in VORP with 37.3.

Ian Snell-Big surprise here, 2.63 ERA, 7.34 K/9.

Tom Gorzelanny-What the f***? 2 Pirates pitchers? 3.01 ERA, 28.1 VORP.

Jeff Francis-26.4 VORP, 3.44 ERA. In Colorado.

John Maine-Has not pitched as much as others. 2.90 ERA still, 7.45 K/9, 26 VORP.

Ben Sheets-3.19 ERA, 1.17 WHIP. Hasn't had as many strikeouts as usually, but at least he's playing.

Chris Young-I gotta give him the last starting spot. He killed the Sox, and he's got a 2.26 ERA, 7.53 K/9, 24.9 WHIP. Yeah, I guess he is good.

Relievers:

Francisco Cordero-NL leader in saves with 27, and has a 2.30 ERA.

Takashi Saito-40 strikeouts, 3 walks. Wow.

Jason Isringhausen-After his job being threatened by Wainwright in the playoffs, he comes back with a 1.5 ERA, 14 saves.

Derek Lowe has been better than half of those guys.

Thumper... that's a perfect reason that fans shouldn't vote. Your all-star ballot is as talented as your fantasy team.

AL:

C: Jorge Posada

1B: David Ortiz

2B: Brian Roberts

3B: Alex Rodriguez

SS: Derek Jeter

OF: Magglio Ordonez

OF: Ichiro Suzuki

OF: Vladimir Guerrero

SP: Dan Haren

Gary Sheffield would be one of my starters if he didn't start out so weak. He's absolutely tearing right now...which made it VERY difficult for me to leave him out. Would he play 1B or OF if he was voted in? I forget which one he's eligible for. Torii Hunter and Grady Sizemore are also VERY deserving.

NL:

C: Russell Martin

1B: Prince Fielder

2B: Chase Utley

3B: Miguel Cabrera

SS: Jose Reyes (God, NL shortstops are good this year... Hanley/Rollins/Renteria/Hardy)

OF: Matt Holliday

OF: Ken Griffey Jr.

OF: Eric Byrnes (Yeah, yeah... look at the year he's having)

SP: Jake Peavy

The OFs are so hard because there are a lot of good ones. Those are who I'd vote in, but I also couldn't complain with Soriano, Beltran, Rowand or Dunn in there among others.

Nice to see you East Coast folk finally giving Holliday some rep, best OF'er in the NL. And Byrnes is a great player too. Doesn't have the skills that Beltran or Soriano do, but has twice the hustle.

Sadly that won't be near the AS starting lineup.

I think Holliday is worth mentioning in MVP talks... then again, I'm also a Rockies fan, though.

Holliday is definitely worth mentioning in MVP talks, if they were to happen at this stage, and I'm no where near a Rox fan.

Holliday is definitely an underrated player who could use a litte recognitzion. I think nothing more than an All-Star game would give him that notoriety.

Holliday played in last years All-Star game.

I think the Yankees series might've kind of put him on the map a little bit more than he has been -- but even then he's extremely underrated. So it goes when you play for the Rockies these days and you're not named Helton. More people will know about this guy sooner or later... I hope the Rockies eventually pony up to keep him.

You kinda have to feel bad for the guy.

Not really sorry for him. He's just a good yet underrated player. Like Mike Lowell was in Boston.

He'll break out soon I'm sure.

That HR he hit was huge.

I said in the Yankees game thread that, while I don't watch the Rockies as often as I watch the Red Sox, I haven't seen a ball hit to that concourse area since the days of the Blake Street Bombers with Bichette and Galaragga, etc.
